St X 31 Lou Central 30 in OT
#1
Special teams hurt Central. Damn, I was hoping for an upset.
#2
Wow. This sounds like it was a hell of a game, congrats X. Tough loss for Central.
#3
It wouldn't have been an upset. Central is a better team.
#4
Damn!! SO close, good game for the Yellow Jackets. This shows this years Central team is on another level!
#5
Central will probably take 3A again.

This shows that X is not on another level this year. The lost to BG and should have lost to Central.
#7
X is on another level allright. The same level as Central, Beechwood, NewCath, Simon Kenton, North Oldham and Bracken County.

He probably meant that X isn't on a whole other level with T and Highlands like they usually are. They are very down by X standards.

I was kidding, but my point was that X isn't at the level we are used to seeing X play.

How did Wales do against this D

Don't go crowning champions in September! There is lots of football to be played . I would agree it certainly looks likely Central will the odds on favorite to repeat but you don't get the win till you actually play the game. As for St X it looks like they have come down a notch or two. Congrats to the Tigers on the win against a tough bunch of Yellow Jackets.
#15
congrats to St X
#16
Things keep looking worse and worse for X when they take on Trinity.

Congrats Tigers... Central is making a big impression on me.
#17
Damn i was so pulling for Central!

Highlands has beaten no one. For all we know BG and John Hardin are better than Highlands.
#19
Two blocked xtra points & a blocked punt for a touchdown were the differences , along with central's coach going for 4th & 15 from their own 10 early on, central probably beat them in every statistical category.

Central's biggest opponent the rest of the way is themselves.

Highlands dominated the western side of 5A last year. They are just as good if not better this year, are you saying BG and JH improved that much from last year that now they are going to beat HHS?

All of 3A is going to have to step it up if anyone wants to de-throne Central. They look BEYOND good. Anything can happen!

Austin Gahafer hit Jake Johnson with a 10-yard touchdown pass on fourth down, and Brad Schickel made the extra-point kick to give St. Xavier High School’s football team a 31-30 overtime victory at Central on Friday night.

Karl Roesler gave the Tigers (3-3), No. 4 in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings, the opportunity to win by blocking Musa Kamara’s extra-point try after Anthony Wales scored on a 10-yard run to give the No. 20 Yellowjackets (4-2) a 30-24 lead on the first overtime possession.

Wales, who carried 30 times for 230 yards and three TDs, helped force the extra period by scoring on a 1-yard run with 22 seconds to go, pulling the Yellowjackets within 24-22. Taeshawn Gibbs then ran a reverse for the two-point conversion.

Patrick Sermersheim had given the Tigers a 24-16 lead earlier in the fourth quarter by blocking a punt and recovering it in the end zone.

Central lost despite outgaining St. X 496-356 — including 471-70 on the ground — and collecting five more first downs

I was hoping Belfry could give them a run this year, but if they play X that well, it could be another title for Central.

I think the Boyle County fans would beg to differ.
