Does Pitt and Syracuse make the ACC the most powerful basketball conference?
#1
I already thought the ACC wasthe most powerful with the ACC right there close behind, but what does this do in the long run?
Better recruits for ACC schools?
More money?
Im also hearing UCONN will try everything they can to get into the ACC as well as the 15th or 16th team.
IMO, it would be by far the best basketball conference of all time.
With these teams leaving the big east schools, what happens?
IMO its a perfect time for the SEC to grab a Lville, or South Florida maybe.
How do you all think it will turn out?
#2
Probably has made them the best conference. Whoever gets Uconn, Gtown, and Louisville will put that conference as the best
#3
IMO, yes.

#4
ACC will be very tough if this happens!
#5
ACC is already a tough conference, this would just make them look scary
#6
Ahh you say ACC and I say North Carolina and Duke...
That's really the only 2 teams that really ring a bell for me..

Pitt usually has a supbar team - I mean they finish with a winning record but are always over-hyped.

Syracuse is one of those teams that are over-hyped, have a good starting season and end terrible.

So IMO, no this doesn't make them the best overall conference, but definitely makes them better.
#7
This will probably make the ACC have the most teams in the tournament,IMO, so yeah I believe it does.
#8
Still, look at the Big East teams.. They still have a great # of teams that will be in the tourney almost every year..
#9

and are losing two of their top 5.............
#10
This DOES make the ACC the best basketball conference now imo. 6 or 7 teams will make the tourny each year from the ACC now..

but getting off topic a little, what is the deal with all these teams switching conferences? I understand the Big 12 and its money reasons but teams like TCU now Pitt and Syracuse?? just a little suspicious..
#11
Can someone please tell me the 6 or 7 teams thats going to be making the tourney from the ACC?? I am missing something definitely if there are that many teams that are going to the tourney from the ACC....

Or at least tell me the GOOD teams besides NC and Duke in the ACC!?
#12
This may finally stop the reign of having mid-level Big East teams that get overrated and favorable seeds just because they are in the Big East.

And ballers...
Pitt is not a "subpar" team lol
They've had one of the best programs in the country in the past few years.

2010-2011 : 28-6 record with wins over Maryland, Texas, UConn(2011 champs), Marquette, Syracuse, and Nova.

2009-2010 : 25-9 record with wins over St.Mary's, Syracuse, Cincy, UConn, Louisville, Marquette, and Nova

2008-2009 : 31-5 record with wins over..... I'm tired of this lol

Over the last few years Pitt has been a dominant team in the most dominant conference in Basketball.
They have had continued success against strong competition.
No way they are overrated.
#15
They didn't last till the water got hot in the tourney...
You can shout these past few year records at me till you turn blue in the face..
But it doesn't change the fact that they got knocked out by a hungry, lower-on-the-totem-pole team.
#16
The big east was so overrated it isn't even funny. The ACC was the much better conference, now they are better. Id like to see the SEC get some Basketball schools to get the sec more involved in basketball. Maybe add Louisville and we could very well be set. I would love to play them twice a year.
#17
If I am not mistaken, SEC had more teams in the tourney last year than the ACC.

They lost on a last second tip-in to Butler...
on the way to back-to-back finals appearances.

You can try to argue that Pitt isn't legit until the end of time but they have done nothing but prove that they are.
#19
I'm not scared of Pitt.
They will get folded up in the tourney like they do every year.

Blah blah blah....
They've been just as succesful as UK in the last 10 years
#21
Not now..
Since Cal has been put in UK might as well put that small fire out..
Man c'mon.. Who are you foolin'?
Pitt lost hope when they lost Blair.. They have had some talented guards and PF's.. but they just haven't been able to get it done in the tourney.

Last 2 years UK has been right in the mix of things.

It had been a while since we had to put up with your foolishness in here...

Cal hasn't been able to win one with the best players in the nation his entire career.

Why would he be able to now?

Boston College
Clemson
Duke
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Maryland
Miami (FL)
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest

With the addition of Syracuse and Pitt

Here you go..
Bolded are my picks on who will make the tourney..
6 total including Pitt and Syracuse.
Without Pitt and Cuse'.. Only 4 remain.
