Week 5 has arrived, so with half the season past us, who are the players we should be watching out for in the Mr. Football race?

Remember, only seniors can win Mr. Football

JJ Jude, Johnson Central
Zeke Pike, Dixie Heights
Cory Davenport, Bell County

Through in Ace Wells and I think you have the complete list.

Jude and the others are all awesome players, but these three are standing out and play where the voter base is. Unfortunately, Jude could break the all time record and probably still wouldn't get the votes needed simply because he's not from Louisville, Lexington, etc.

Ryan Timmons-Franklin County

Haven't heard Pike's name mentioned since Dixie was blown out by Highlands earlier in the season. Has he done anything since?

Not to mention he isn't signing with UK. I'm about convinced that this is what wins the award for most finalists.

not really, he had a good game in their win against conner last week, but his stats are not good enough to make up for his team's poor start to get the votes for Mr. Football
#12
got to say matt robinson has to be some where in the mix up

Only 2 since 2000 have gone to UK. More (4) have gone to Louisville. UK did get 5 the previous 10 yrs though.

Ace Wales

What about all of those Trinity players? If they seriously finish as the #1 team in the nation, one of the Shamrocks would almost have to get it.

My vote would go for Patrick Towles of Highlands. This kid will start for UK as a true freshman.

Most (if not all) of T's skill players are juniors.
#18
^I forgot that it is seniors only. Thanks

If Highlands keeps winning and Towles does indeed go to UK, he's a lock. He truly is the best player in the state and he's on the best team(arguably).

That's not arguable. Not even you can argue that, unless you accidentally left out 'in 4A'.

I don't have a strong case, but I can make an argument. Highlands D played straight up. Trinity was stunting, blitzing, etc. Highlands also played a ton of guys on defense that wouldn't get in a regular game against Trinity. Do I think Highlands would beat them. No. But, it wouldn't be a blowout. Highlands would beat Cincy X again too.

So Highlands never blitzed a LB or CB in that scrimmage? I'm pretty sure I saw the LBs blitz several times, especially in the red zone.
I don't know who you played on D but I can't imagine playing kids against Trinity that wouldn't get in a normal game, unless you're talking about as the game was winding down. Why wouldn't you play your regulars in a scrimmage? That's what it's for.
I wouldn't necessarily call 38-14 a blowout, but I didn't think there was any doubt who was the better team once it was over. I think a real game would have been more lopsided than that. I have my reasons for saying that and I'm sure you will disagree and have your reasons.
I don't think you would beat Cincy X this year. I'm not sure you could score on their D (Trinity did only score 17) and I don't think there's any way you could hold them to 1 score as Trinity did. I'm sure you will disagree with this as well.
#23
Patrick Towles would get my vote too.
#24
Towles
Whales
Davenport
Jude

That is my top 4. I would love to see someone from the mnts. win it but with a talent class of Srs. and 2 of which being in highly populated areas it will be hard for anyone outside the golden triangle to win it.

1. Patrick Towles - Highlands
2. Ace Wales - Central
3. JJ Jude - Johnson Central
4. Zeke Pike - Dixie Heights
5. Corey Davenport - Bell County

Louisville yes but I don't think a Lexington player has ever won the Mr. Football award.

In fact I would only list 4 as what I consider Central KY.

Jeremy Simpson, Lincoln Co.

Dennis Johnson, Harrodsburg

Jeff Duggins, Boyle Co.

Lamar Dawson, Boyle Co.
