Highlands @ Cov Cath
#1
Can we finally start this thread? Most Cov Cath fans think they are ready to compete and beat Highlands this year. The talk I hear from Highlands fans is they still have a long way to go. Who wins, and why.
#2
Highlands wins. I don't think Cov Cath is quite ready to beat Highlands just yet.
#3
close game, imo.

This will be a good game in the first half due to the emotional factor. Beginning early in the 2nd half, the Birds will have made the adjustments needed and win this by 4 TDs or more

You hit the nail squarely on the head.

Emotional factor in the first half will determine the spread, but Highlands will take the victory by a large margin.

I agree. I just do not see this game being close.

I am expecting a close game. The Colonels lost to Highlands on the road last season by only 7 despite 3 Bir interceptions. CovCath has played a stronger schedule so far than Highlands and I don't see them getting worn down in the second half any more than they did last season. I am still picking Highlands but I don't see it being a blowout.

CovCath is better than last year. But I think that HHS might be too. Could be a closer game than some expect.

Cov Cath D is going to be a problem. I saw them play twice this year and they will not be able to stop Highlands O. In order to win they are going to need to score 40+ points and I do not see that happening.
#10
Covcath will likely try to shorten the game with runs and short passes. Although it's tough to drive consistently with long drives and score. Highlands hasn't been challenged all year. I expect some Highlands miscues early, but they will settle down and like win in the neighborhood of 41 to 17.
#11
I'm like many others, I think this will be a close game in the first half, but the Birds prove to be too much in the 2nd half and win, 42-17.

I like the Bluebirds in this one. I don't think it will be as close as others do. Highlands is so much deeper on both sides of the ball. I don't feel the Colonels can slow the Highlands offense and I'm not sure that the passing offense of Cov Cath is good enough to match what Highlands puts on the scoreboard consistently

CovCath will be ready to play, but I think Highlands will jump out to a good size lead early.

As much as I'd like to sit here and say CC can beat HHS, I just don't see it happening. I will say this, CC will probably be the first game where HHS faces someone tougher than they do in practice.

my thoughts exactly. The Cov Cath massive, experienced Oline will pick up the difference between the 'Birds and their recent opponents. I think that they will go into halftime tied up. Highlands will make a few more plays in the second half. Im expecting a really exciting game that brings this rivalry back to where it used to be.

I'm not expecting a close game at all.

Boone beats Male by 14
Louisville Western beats Male by 15
Covington Catholic beats Boone by 8
Highlands/Western score at the half was 49-0.

It would be nice if the game were going to be close, but the reality is that it won't be.
