KSU's Berryman up for HSRN National Player of the Week

The Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) announces national player of the week fan poll week two nominees. Each week, HSRN will announce a national player of the week from both the top DI-FCS and Division II action.

Kentucky State's Cade Berryman has been selected as one of four Division-II nominees. One week after being named SIAC Special Teams Player of the Week, Berryman shattered last week's performance. Against Lincoln (PA), Berryman nailed three (3) field goals from 26, 43 and 39 yards, connected on four (4) PATs and had nine (9) kickoffs for 450 yards (50.0 avg.). He finished the game with 13 points as the Thorobreds defeated the Lions 43-27.

The top performance each week will be selected and the HBCU fans across the country will get a chance to cast their vote for who they think had the best game. The Fan Poll is designed to get fans involved with the excitement of the HBCU college football action. Fans are asked to log on to HSRN.com and cast their vote for the top performance. Fans can vote on the poll this evening (Sun., Sept. 11) thru Wednesday (Sept. 14) until 11 am CT. The nominees are below:

Div. I FCS
Casey Therriault – Jackson St. – QB – 6'3, 205 – SR/Wyoming Park, MI
The pre-season All-American completed 27 of 39 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Tigers to a 35-29 win over Tennessee St. Therriault was selected MVP of the Southern Heritage Classic.

Darius Jackson – Delaware St. – WR – 5'10 – SR/Quincy, FL
Jackson finish with 11 receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns, including the game winner with seconds on the clock giving the Hornets a come from behind 31-27 win over Shaw.

Dominique Ellis – SC State – DB – 5'11, 195 – SR/Union City, LA
In the battle of the 2010 MEAC Co-Champions, Ellis led the Bulldogs defensive efforts with eight tackles (4 solos) and two interceptions, including one returned 55 yards for a touchdown. The Bulldogs defeated Bethune Cookman 26-18 in a barn burner in Daytona Beach.

Greg McGhee – Howard – QB – 6'3, 200 – FR/Pittsburgh, PA
McGhee completed 22 of 29 (75%) passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 46 yards, finishing the game with 294 yards of total offense. The Bison defeated Morehouse 30-27 in the first AT&T Nation's Classic, in Washington, DC.

Div. II
Kameron Smith – Winston Salem St. – QB – 6'1, 187 – JR/Garner, NC
Smith completed 15 of 28 (53%) passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns. His performance led the Rams to an impressive 67-16 win over previously unbeaten Virginia Union. His performance led the Rams to 47 second half points.

Carlos Ross – Langston – RB – 5'8, 180 – JR/Kenner, LA
Ross led the NAIA Lions with 128 yards on 20 carries in their 31-19 win over SIAC power Tuskegee. It was their second big win of the 2011 season after opening the season with a win over Div. I-FCS Arkansas Pine Bluff.

Stanley Jennings – Albany St. – QB – 6'2, 250 – SR/Marietta, GA
Jennings completed 17 of 30 passes for 307 yards, leading the Golden Rams to a 48-28 home opening win over Wingate. The Golden Rams finished the game with 427 total offensive yards, an average of 5.8 yards per play on 74 plays.

Cade Berryman – Kentucky St. – PK – 5'9, 150 – FR/Irvine, KY
One week after being named SIAC Special Teams Player of the Week, Berryman shattered last week's performance.
