Perry Centrals NEWEST RECRUIT.
#61
The 8th grader that they are talking about is the Athletic Directors child, Brent Kidwell, son of Gary Kidwell... Also, Daryl Hicks is at Trinity along with Miles Rice, all three kids attended school at Shelby West Middle and now they will be playing at Trinity...

The only parents that are mad about the transfers are the ones that kids can't play! They can just cheerlead I guess. Where they should of been in the first place. All these girls have grown up together their whole lives too, with the exception of Noble, and in my opinion she was not recruited, parents moved to Hazard to be closer to fathers job, legit reason. Everyone else has been their their whole life! Pretty home grown if you ask me! Even if Smith does come back, she has been their all her life too! Everyone just keep being jealous, these are a bunch of girls that just really love to play. Just sit back and enjoy the show.
#63
What about the girl that moved their from Laurel County?
#64
Perry will have a top team in the state. Go Dores!
#65
Can't wait to see these girls on the hardwood.
#66
How is the Noble girl doing with her knee rehab?
#67
Truth is, this PCC team is going to be unstoppable in district in region making a big push in the tourney.
#68
that is what they said last year????????????

Who could foresee the Noble girl going down with a torn ACL? If that doesn't happen, you never know what could of happened, they had the young team to compete and possibly win. They may get another shot this year, you never know what is going to happen. Good luck to all the 14th region teams.

Stardust Wrote:You are dead-on. If she is an incoming Freshman, then there is NOTHING KHSAA can do about it. It's 100% legal! The transfer rules only apply if the student is in High School, not Middle School. A Middle School athlete can play Varsity High School sports for as long as they want, and then go any High School with no repercussions. Once in High School, the moving part can be questionable if not for legitimate reasons and could be considered illegal per State rules.

 Exactly .. Nothing anyone can do. Everything is perfectly legal and I see nothing wrong with it. I disagree with the KHSAA transfer rules anyway. Sports are a huge part of life and I see nothing wrong with players transferring to put themselves in a better position to win and make memories that will last a lifetime. Not mention a better chance to have their college payed for. I could see PCC making a deep deep sweet 16 run and look foward to the season

I bet it would be a different story for you haters if these girls transferred to your home team. Just take a look inside Perrys gym and look at all the banners. The only thing thats missing is a state tittle. I mean seriously whats so wrong with wanting to win?! and achieve more success as a TEAM??! haters are gonna hate either way. im not saying that they are gonna win a state tittle next season because there are a lot of tough teams out there in the Lex/Louisville areas. but i do believe they will come close. Good luck lady Commodores.

Have seen both players play the last two seasons Noble is in different league when healthy, these transfer will help put only if Noble is 100 % HEALTHY.

king360 Wrote:It's pathetic how jealous most of you are that kids want to transfer into Perry and play instead of coming to your school, go ahead and face facts that Perry probably won't lose a game in the mountains this year and not many games will be close. I know you all are gonna say it's not jealousy but everyone knows that's what it is.

That will be the only place they don't lose a game is in the mountains. They will have a good team but alot of question marks. Will Noble be 100%, can Noble, Rankin, Crawford, and Smith play together or will everybody want to be the star.

Same goes for the Cordia threads bud.

I am glad the Lady commodores are getting publicity for this. I am rooting for Randy Napier to win one more State Title before he retires. I don't know when that may be, but I am rooting for the Lady Commodores. They probably will not lose a game within the 14th or the eky area, but it is a different story at State. I hope the Lady Commodores bring back a State Tite to the 14th, and Perry County.

OrangenowBlue Wrote:What transfers did the 2011 Rockcastle County girls have. What transfers did the 2010 Shelby Valley boys have. Breathitt County won the region four years in a row without transfers. As far as the Smith girl transferring, I see no problem as she has a parent who lives in Perry County and she has lived a substantial part of her life there. I do believe that many schools have to depend on transfers to get to the state tournament on a consistent basis because they cannot depend on their feeder programs. However, if you look at most state champions, they usually have a nucleus of players that have been together for four years.

Shelby Valley's Ahsley Hatfield was from Phelps, but came to play with Virgie's b-ball team in Middle school. They also had a kid (Ramey) from Pikeville that was the 6th man. Without Hatfield they would have not made it as far as they did. Any good program has kids from outside the community. If you want to win you better recruit!

Didn't both of those kids come straight out of grade school to Shelby Valley?

Blessed: Kendall isnt in another league compared to Smith. They are about neck and neck and someone will see that by the end of the season. Smith may be player of the year in the 14th. Remember I said that. The girl is clutch and has been all her life.

Ramey was at Pikeville and then home schooled. Hatfield came to Virgie when he was in 7th grade I believe.

Unless she improved greatly from last season she is the third or fourth best player on PCC team behind Noble, Rankin, possibly Crawford. I have not seen Crawford in person but have seen Noble and Rankin several times.

Man o man alive! Looks like both boys & girls Perry Central teams can make some noise this year!

I think Perry's girls will have much more success than the boys team

Noble,Rankin,Crawford,Back Randy (RC) and Smith are great team players i have seen all 6 play, it will be fun to watch this team .But not fun to play them, I hope they can bring the state title back to the mtns and good luck to all the teams in the 14th

OrangenowBlue Wrote:You are exactly right. Kendall Noble was a relatively " unknown" until she come to Perry Central. She played on a "pitiful" Breathitt County team for four years before transferring and she and her team achieved "so much more" success at PCC. I am sure she never got a single letter from a college until the transfer. :lmao:

are u being serious?

Absolutely not but to hear a few of the Perry County posters you would think what I said was true.

Louis Meadows NOTES: I saw Perry Central play at the Transylvania team camp this past summer. At that time, they had a new transfer from Mason County. The team looked pretty good, so I recently wrote Randy and asked him for some comments on the team and the transfer.

Turns out he has had am second transfer of the summer right before school started, this one from North Laurel.

If you remember, Kendall Noble transferred from Breathitt County to Perry Central two summers ago as a junior. At the time, Kendall was rated the top member of the Class of 2012 in the state of Kentucky in all the coaches’ polls. Kendall led Perry Central to a 27-3 regular season record last year and the Region 14 title.

But last year in the first round of the Sweet Sixteen a game against Region 6 champs Louisville Butler, Kendall went down with a torn ACL early in the first quarter. Louisville Butler won the game by two points.

All of this is a set-up for the following, Randy’s answer to my inquiry about his team I saw play at Transy. Here it is in Randy’s own words.

FROM RANDY NAPIER, HEAD COACH AT PERRY CENTRAL:

From: randy.napier@perry.kyschools.us

Just wanted to give you an update on a couple of things. Katelyn Smith, the girl you mentioned from Mason County, is even better than I thought. She may be D-1 level by years end. She actually is from Perry County. Her Dad played for us when I was at MC Napier and was a good player. He is our technology coordinator for the school system. Her Mom and Dad divorced about 5 years ago and she moved to Mason County with her Mom. Her Mom inherited a house just recently back here in the area and got a teaching job in Knott County so Katelyn ended up coming home. She is thrilled and her dad is overjoyed having her back close to him. She is about 5’10 and is very strong and quick.

We also had another transfer late in the summer right before school started. Tamera Crawford, who played at North Laurel the last two years, is now at Perry Central. Her parents just went through a divorce and the dad has relatives in Perry County. So she and her dad relocated here. Tamera is a great shooter and can play point or two guard and is a very talented player as well. I have had several colleges inquire about her. I am really blessed having these kids come on board.

Kendall is really making great progress in her comeback. The physical therapist says she is very close to being released. Her strength level is great, she is now making full speed cuts and just this week has starting jumping and landing on the so called “bad leg”. She has really worked hard, not just on the knee, but on upper body strength and shooting. She has shot more than she ever has because she has not been able to play AAU or run so she has really worked on her shooting. Knowing her she will be back stronger and better than before.

I’m really excited about my team with the new additions and Kendall coming back strong and with the returning players. I think we can be as good as anybody in the state. I’m looking forward to getting started.

MORE LRM NOTES: Don’t bet against Randy. He coached M. C. Napier to the State Title in 1994, before they consolidated into Perry Central. Last season, Perry Central used the phrase “Double K” offense led by Kendall Noble and freshman center Kayla Rankin (freshman last year). This year, I guess it is going to be the “Triple K“ offense with the addition of Katelyn Smith to the team. Don’t know how they are going to get the name Tammy Crawford into the “Triple K” deal.
