Hazard 2011-2012
#1
This will be Al's worse team since he has been at Hazard but never count Al out, he has won with worse. Thoughts on the upcoming season for the bulldogs?

I think this Hazard team will be better than last season.Hazard has some up and coming talent. I think this team might have the overall most talent in the region (depth wise). The question is can they get it together as a team. Hazard just didnt look like Hazard on the court last season. As W2W said, I'd never count out Big Al.

I agree.

As always, Hazard will be a factor in all of the district play and region. They may play second fiddle to PCC this year but they should be a pretty solid second. Good luck to the Bulldogs!

Last year was the worst Hazard Basketball season on and off the court in a very long time..... But Hazard was also missing a true Center and the region was very big last season. But It is Hazard and someone has always got to beat them...

Lost Players: G- Eric Back (10.6 ppg), G- Jon Combs (9.2 ppg), G- Zach Blanton (rumor not playing)

Returning Starters: (Sr) F - Bj Combs (12 ppg, 6.6 rpg), (Jr) F - Jordan Olinger (8.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg)--- Bj and Jordan both Top 10 players in the region. I believe Olinger will have a much better season then last because he was playing out of position last season. I talked to Bj Combs a week ago and he seems to have all of the off-court stuff behind him so things are looking up.

Players that could start
(Jr.) C - Evan Whitaker --- I believe Whitaker is the missing part. 6'4"

(Sp.) G - Josh Hollan --- If everything is true about Blanton then I don't see how Hollan won't be in the starting line-up. Hollan is young but is a very smart point guard..

(Jr.) G - Jarrod Combs --- Very good 3 point shooter..

(Sp.) G - Matt Thompson --- Already has 3 years of varsity under his belt, Under-sized but a very solid around player..

(Sp.) F - Collier Mobelini --- Is very under-sized but works very hard and can really score..

(Sp.) Tyler Triplett, and (Fr.) Hunter Hardy will both see playing time as well...

Keys for the Bulldogs:
(Sr.) Kyle Spencer 6'3", (Sr.) Jordan Frazier 6'3"---- Needs to play

FG% 40.9% - Needs to be around 44-48% ---- Take smarter shots
3% 25.3% - Needs to be around 30-34% ---^^^^

Improve FT% - 61.2% as a team last season. Will like to see it around 64-68% -- Hazards FT% hasn't been over 62 since 2007... FT's have really been killing Hazard the last few years...

The big key to Hazard is "HEART" team just needs to play with a little more heart...

^ah boys...

I like how everyone assumes Hazard and PCC will dominate the region and their district... John Noble from Buckhorn has a decent team returning... I think this could be a wide open district.

He had a decent team returning last year as well but he ended up heading to the house after the first round as usual.
Buckhorn will be good....
but if I were them I would want to draw Leslie County.
#12
Buckhorn should be the preseason #1. Got everybody back. Only God knows what Cordia will have.

I think Hazard will b good this year with what they have returning. I think BJ and Zac arent playing this season which may hurt them some. They have some great young kids that are going to help them a ton and maybe better off playing them now instead of thee older kids. Dont think they will win ti this season but will be tuff down the road.

Rumors has it Triplett will be in the starting lineup. No guarentees just what I am hearing.

Totally agree, this is the worse tea Al has had since he has been at Hazard, but it's still Al, you can never count out him. He is a great coach and will come up with a game plan where he will have a shot at beating Buckhorn or Perry. Me personally, I want to see a Hazard/Perry first round 54th. Haven't seen it in awhile, I can't wait to see how the 54th shapes out this year.

Al is a good coach, dont ever count him out. Ive played against him, he knows his stuff and knows how to make his boys play well.
