Anyone have any updates on the injuried Bulldogs?

Where did the new QB come from? That could really be big for Hazard. Is he a transfer? If so,from where? What grade is he in?

Evan Whitaker (Jr.) from Leslie County.... He came last year but had to sit a year out. Plays Football, Basketball, and Baseball.

He's 6'4" with a big arm.

Sounds like just what the Bulldogs were needing.

Coach Dixon and the Bulldogs will definitely not overlook the Greenwave. Big game early in the season against a quality opponent on the road. Hazard will have to play well to pull out the win. Clintwood is big and physical and also has good skill players. Turnovers will be a big factor imo!

Everyone of the injured Bulldogs will ready to play this Friday against the Green Wave. This should be a very good game for both teams early on in the season.
#37
Sounds good. Better to take a loss with all your starters than with some.

I don't know anything about Clintwood but, from what I have read in this thread, it sounds like this could be an interesting game! I think Hazard can win this but, it gonna be close and they'll need to eliminate as many mistakes on defense as possible.

Hazard - 28

Clintwood, VA - 21

I am less cautious than most on here. Hazard has developed into a premier program in the Mountains - all classses.

I like Hazard by 21 points or more.

...feller from Clintwood, VA here. Just a little info about us, seems some of'ya don't know a whole lot about us out-of-staters. We're located about 20 miles from Jenkins. A town/rural surrounding area (ridges, hollers, etc.) school with about 315 students. We are the Greenwave and our colors are green, gold, and white. We are a football town with a rich tradition. Have won three state championships, numerous region titles, and a whole buch more Lonesome Pine District (LPD)championships. State runner-ups in 2007 and 2008 (lost 28-19 to Buffalo Gap and 28-20 to Franklin, coulda/shoulda won both). LPD champs 2008, 2009, 2010. Went undefeated in regular season last year, had state's top-ranked defense (although we do historically struggle against good passing teams, especially the spread... just don't see it much over our way). Lost a heartbreaker in last year's state semis to Eastern Montgomery 26-21, an instant classic on a snow covered field that (again) we coulda won in the last 2 minutes. Ended up 12-1 last year. Lost some very good players from last year's team, but have a bunch of returning starters. Primarily a power running team, but can be balanced (if coach decides to mix it up a little...that's a big IF). Pretty good overall size for a small school, with good speed and power in the backfield. Good facilities, with maybe the best Bermuda grass field in Southwest Virginia. Parking at Ralph Cummins Stadium sucks, however. At crowded games, cars are parked throughout the west end of town. Good luck with that. We have great town support with sportmanship from both players and fans. Looking forward to playing Hazard and realize they share the same "small town football" qualities. I personally saw Hazard play last year in the Ky playoffs and came away very impressed...seems to be a great program. No predictions from me... just hope it's a hard-fought game and everybody comes out healthy so we can both move on toward some more championships. Catch all you Ky people on Friday evenin', and be careful on your way over.

Just a question? Hazard's kicker was ejected last night playing a soccer game and I was wondering if this makes him ineligible to play in the football game until he sits out his penalty for soccer? Just wondering if this will have any effect on the game?
#48
not sure about a different sport but if its jv and you get thrown out it does effect varsity unless its changed but Im guessing in saying no it wont

isnt mike whitaker at letcher central his dad....my question is why would he not elect to play for his dad

No he is not Mike son, I do not even think they are related

Perhaps you have confused the family relationship, as well as the individual players. Evan Whitaker's Dad is Scott Whitaker, however, Kyle Huff, of Perry Central, is a cousin to Mike Whitaker. Evan and Mike are not related. I personally know all parties involved. I can understand the confusion with the same last name, both kids play the same position, both are gifted athletes, both are fine young men. Best wishes to both for a great season!!

Clintwood is going to be like a smaller, less deep Belfry.

Healthy Hazard wins by 21.
If Hazard is still missing their injured players it is a toss-up.

I think a healthy Hazard wins for sure in this game by 10,but if still missing injured players,I think you have to give the nod to Clintwood. Also, this Clintwood team knows how to play in big game situations. They won't be rattled early on.

I am really excited to listen to this game. Id love to be in attendance but listen will do just fine. Also thanks for the link there so i can listen.
#59
They done away with the anger management class. Also he was not thrown out for anger against another player, the referee threw him out for throwing up his hands. He has to sit out his penalty in soccer that's it not in another sport

should be a good macth up
