FBfan4 Wrote:What is done for one, should be done for all. Pike Central is not the only school that has supposedly done this, and I for one still do not think anything was actually done. From what I can gather, it was accusations from an upset parent of a 2nd string player, who is not even at Pike Central anymore. KHSAA had to save face somehow, so just when it all started to die down, and things were getting back to normal, this article just so happens to come out? That seems a bit too coincidental to me. The Pike Central School has had their names drug through the mud, especially these boys..who are kids in case anyone has forgotten that. This has been going on long enough, and they need to leave it alone and try to let these kids enjoy their senior seasons. I for one, am sick of hearing about it, and am ready to move on. All the accusations, speculations, rumors, and other mud slinging coming from people who swear they know what is going on needs to just go away. Let's get back to football, THIS YEARS SEASON, and enjoy it while it is here. It seems to me that if any wrong doing was done, these boys wouldn't be playing right now, dont you think? So I hope that this will once again die down, so we can get back to talking about this season.

The report says that there were things found that were serious in nature and that the KHSAA wanted to punish the school and Coaching staff, not the player(s) involved. The report was clear and simple to read.

I can agree with that as way too many times the school will get punished and the players will get declared ineligible while the coaches life goes on at a different job. I do agree that if Pike Central is guilty they should be punished. I do think that in many cases the powers that be turn a blind eye to other schools involved in similar circumstances. You can say what you want but I believe that "politics" plays a big role in who gets the hammer and who gets a free pass.

You all are pitiful honestly let's take a look around here. You are all bashing individuals and throwing stones. As a Pike Central fan I accept the sancitions and move on. As for you all you are spending too much time bashing others and calling out others. We need to remember football is for the kids not for us hasbeens. If Belfry, Pikeville, or hell even Phelps had the same issues I would hate it for the kids but move on. We as Pike Central need to take our focus off what happen last year and focus on this year. So everyone needs to move on instead of bashing and casting stones. Grow up and be mature as the adults you are and move on.

nope

I'm saying it's like when that Highlands team forfeited all those games, but were still allowed to play in the state finals game. i never really understood why the KHSAA allowed Highlands to play in that game, I'm not picking on Highlands on this one, I'm picking on the KHSAA for how they handled it :redboxer:

Dream on because it is not going to happen. What aggravates you brings sheer enjoyment to me so the best thing for you to do is find someone else to follow around and and then you may have some wishes come true.

yo, calm it down. K? K.

Anywho, PCC got pretty lucky, and should thank the good lord above that they weren't banned from post-season play for a couple of years. Oh well. Good try Chapman.
#47
It's all about winning that all that matters. For Chapman it's about the "W" doesn't seen to care about much else including what he has to to a up and coming program. Furthermore and the fans that think that this is unfair having to run to a judge and slap an "injunction" so your "star" can "WIN" you a state title is crazy. This was put in place last year so don't be suprised if this isn't the last time we hear about a situation like this. Not this incident but others like it. As for the "MUD SLINGERS" can't even say that for young ears.

Good God boys..

What's done is done, I believe the penalties should have been a little more harsh but you go on and you play the game and get ready for the season.
#50
I'm confused on how this was such a horrible offense in 2010 that pcc had to forfeit all their game but in 2011 they can use the same players with basically no penalties. Did the players move in district or some other change in the situation between 2010 and 2011?

I wonder the same thing myself, however what is done is done there is no sense in dwelling on it. I'm just glad to see that something was done whether it was harsh enough or not, something was done.

The KHSAA needs you. You seem like a perfect fit.

I will agree, at least this has put a watchful on a up and coming program. Chapman is a great coach, a top ten coach in the mountains. He has took a program that was in the gutters, to a program that is respected in the mountains. Pike Central has went from playing in everybody's homecoming, to getting circled on a schedule because every one knows it is going to be tough game. He has done all this with all criticism and alot of distraction. I don't think he has had a full year without some type of distraction from investigation. I'm not sure about the first year, but last year he had to deal with his qb and ss getting investigation and having to get thing over turned in the court to be able to get some of his kids to play. Now this year starts just like last year ends. Coach Chapman is a winner and this little set back will not hurt him a bit, if any thing it will just give him something to get more fired up about. I was lucky enough to play under Coach Chapman defense, the man is very old school and passionate so I see why kids want to come and play for him.(I'm not saying that I agree with recruiting because I hate recruiting, I just thinks he is a excellent coach)

Before picking on the KHSAA, take the time to learn the by laws. The by laws didn't permit the KHSAA to not allow Highlands play in the state game. Trust me, and I know, if the KHSAA could have banned Highlands from playing in the championship game, they would have. And the by laws, by the way, are the by laws adopted and voted on by the schools themselves, so don't blame the KHSAA staff or Board of Control for the by laws.

In light of the fact that the KHSAA eventually rescinded the sanctions and restored the wins because they had royally screwed up, you still think it would have been right to not allow those Highlands kids to play in the championship game? If so, that's a sadder reflection on you than on the KHSAA allowing Highlands to play in the state championship. More love (or is it jealousy?) for Highlands from another N. Kyian. :HitWall:

Personally I think they got off light.......This has been kept quiet. I thought that he didn't do anything wrong? I went back and looked at the post on this subject. You will be surprised who said that nothing was done wrong. Where are those posters now. If they fired all coaches that got caught recruiting then it would stop.

But do you think the schools have some liability as well? I can't believe that the schools are completely innocent and it's all the coaches.

Good post though, I like you thinking!

The KHSAA is all about money....so that is where they bring the monetary fines, the school system. Trust me it would stop. The fine of minimum 5,000
#58
^ Yes, maybe. But, let's not forget who runs KHSAA - The Schools!!!! If the schools do not join, vote for elected members and by-laws changes, then there is no KHSAA! So it's hard to say that KHSAA is all about the money, when the KHSAA is ran by the organizations who give them that money!
#59
I have seen the complaints and the reports made and given by the KHSAA and there were never any mention of recruiting violations. The penalties imposed were for the school not reporting a change of address for the students to the KHSAA and for the coach giving a ride to an athlete to from an out of county family member's residence. Recruiting violations were not mentioned.

Salimander Wrote:Should PC have been sanctioned. YES. Should these other causes be ruled eligible. ABSOLUTELY NOT.

With all due respect PC's players were ruled eligible initially as well and are eligible as we speak. The actions that warranted sanctions were not known by the KHSAA until they were reported.

I am not a fan of how the KHSAA rules (lets make this VERY clear), their consistency is "iffy" at best. But, complaining that the KHSAA is completely biased, when at this point last year your school was benefiting directly on the same circumstance, is a bit pretentious. We would all love for the KHSAA to nip every instance in the bud, but it is impossible to do with the way certain coaches (Chapman as a perfect example) can work around the guidelines to gain initial eligibility. There is a sort of "honor code" in place when it comes to granting eligibility, the KHSAA simply does not have the resources to investigate every single transfer thoroughly. That is why the rulings typically come after a complaint and subsequent investigation.

If you feel you have enough evidence to gain some sort of closure then file your own complaint for the instances listed. I will play Devil's Adovcate for a second on the matter. If the KHSAA investigated every mention of "cheating" they read on message boards or social media from rival fans, the organization would be broke in a year. You can't expect them to jump on hearsay and send their A-team to respond.

Pike Cental fans should consider themselves VERY fortunate that the KHSAA chose to NOT EVEN give them a slap on the wrist. The punishments levied are very light. It is foreseeable that the harshest aspect of the KHSAA's ruling was public embarrassment for being caught. For the "severe nature" of the violations, PC's punishment will have little to no impact on their final record this season, chances for district or postseason plays, direction of their program moving forward, and the job security of their head coach. Instead of cursing the name of the KHSAA I would be kissing their shoes for the gratuity they have given you.
