I took the Tomcats, but I didn't think the spread would be this much

Honestly about what I expected and must say I can be happy with the outcome. I felt that Ashland would be in better position at this stage of the year especially with some of the troubles the Dawgs have faced leading up to this game. To me it looked as though Ashland was in better physical condition and just seemed faster to the ball and play throughout the game. LC should improve each week and be in good shape by the end of the year. Looking at the schedule this year I expected LC to go either 6-4 or 5-5 but more ready for the playoffs than they've been with the great regular season records the last few years. Hold your head high dawgs I would rather you play against good teams and lose where you have the chance to learn and grow than to play weak teams and dominate and basically not gain the experience that you need and become over confident. LC could have easily had this game closer but just couldn't make the big play but then again Ashland could have blown it open a few times but had the same trouble. Keep building and growing and you will be just fine come playoffs. Must say I left this Ashland game without hatred for the Tomcats unlike the last time LC was at Putnam. This bunch at least through what I witnessed seemed to be a classy group and I didn't see anything bad from LC either. Nice game by both. At least I didn't have to listen to a certain somebody which would have destroyed my night. Good luck to both the rest of the way.

North and South, Bulldogs! Running the ball towards the sidelines is going to keep your defense on the field ALL SEASON with 3 and outs! Keep your heads up!

Welcome to the real world of where you're not playing against subpar competition.

#4 from Ashland is a heck of a player from what I saw last night

Biggest surprize of the night for Ashland would have to be #74 Cade O'Bryan at D end. Monster break out first start for him. Ashland has the whole season to develope some rising O & D linemen and ends. O'Bryan, Ellis, Gregg, and I was especially impressed with sophomore Luke Johnson # 71, all had a great game. You could see Johnson gain confidence throughout the game and he kept his head in it and began to actually understand the LC offense and make reads that put him right in the thick of things. Communication among the players between and during plays added to the mix adding the beginning of something called chemistry for the Cats last night as well. I'll say this, it was so sweet to see an aggressive D line in there shaking things up and put a lot of pressure on a good QB for LC. If they can avoid injury and if, and it is allways a big if, they progress and grow as a team each game, Ashland has a chance to be as good or nearly as good defensively as they were 2 years ago when Josh Alber loomed large from his linebacker spot. The secondary has a chance to concentrate more on being D backs this year and Ashland's defense will be way more effective as a unit.

Heck of a player, a very good student and a great kid. He has gone through his fair share of adversity to get his shot during his senior season. He maintained a good attitude and didn't quit or get his head down and last night he really showed what he can do.

He had some good speed carrying the ball and seemed to move well with his cuts, needless to say I was impressed with him.

It was good to see Bentley at the game after his surgery this week. Hopefully he'll be able to return next year. What is the status on the return of Wellman and Clay?

First of all congrats to Sam Hunter on passing Ian Holbrook to become Ashland's all time leading passer. This game was all about defense and the Tomcats showed that they are now a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball. I don't see anyone moving the ball on our revamped defense. I told all you dog fans that we would roll by 3 scores.

Slightly off topic but doesn't Ashland play Ironton this year?

I give credit to Ashlands defense but they were playing a young LC offense that is changing somewhat with a new coach and coordinator. To say after one game that nobody will run on your "revamped" defense is a little much. Come talk to me after JJ Jude lights you for 250+.

Jude & Johnson Central doesn't scare me a bit this year. We have a plan that will stop them this year.

I don't think there is a plan that can stop Jude, just damage control, and if you think Ironton won't move the ball then I wanna sit next to you at that game so one of us can eat our crow with the other as a witness. The Tomcats are gonna do well this year but don't think a solid offense is gonna get shut down by this D. It is an improved defense no doubt, but don't judge it by how it did in week 1, let's see how they fare when they get into the teams who still have their offensive star healthy.
