Should be a good one. Rockcastle is trying to prove that the Rock is Hard and regain respect from others. Sheldon Clark is playing to prove that they should be among the top teams in 3A, and they deserve to be ranked 6th in there respectable class.

Yes, I would agree that the Cardinals are a much different team than last year, a new team, if you will. And I most certainly hope that they bring their A game to Harrison County to meet the Rock.
Again, I look forward to a hard-fought, injury-free game.

they won 31- 12 over Nitro, Skyles ran 16 times for 262 yards and three touchdowns. Both offense and defense looked pretty good and the addition of Smith will make for a much better offensive team.:Clap:

Sheldon Clark did well for a pre-season scrimmage. It was pretty exciting for a scrimmage game. I thought SC looked better than Nitro, especially their first team. KP Skyles had some very nice runs, one for 75 yards, a couple others for around 40 to 45 yards, one where three or four Nitro guys had an opportunity to stop him but didn't. KP is not only fast, he is, moreover, extremely strong for 180 pounds. In addition, he had three or four 8 to 12 yard gains.
Tyler O'Connor also had couple touchdowns, one on a long pass play and the other on a nice run through heavy traffic.
SC looked decent on defense, showing that they aren't afraid to hit. Maybe they were a little weak on pass defense. However, two of their starters, Chase Lafferty and Todd Matthews did not play. Todd is nursing an injury and Chase had some sort of a baseball conflict.
Overall, IMO, SC looked pretty fair, but I'm not sure how strong the opposition was. I think we will have a much better idea after they play Rockcastle this coming week, August 20.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing them in action when Matthews, Lafferty, and Tim Smith are added to the lineup. We'll get that opportunity next week.
And as I believe I've mentioned before, I think Rockcastle is an extremely formidable opponent, and it will be a hard fought game. May the better team win, and the game will be played injury free for both teams.
The foregoing is just MO; and since I'm a SC fan, I might be a little prejudice.

Jed, you are much more succinct than I am. Thanks for the score; I didn't write it down, thus I wasn't sure so I didn't post it.

Sheldon Clark played Nitro wih a backup QB for most of the scrimmage , and three starters out that will be back, and or ready to play next week against Rock.
The Offensive line against Nitro was very impressive, they we're re-setting the line of scrimmage nearly every play and opening huge holes for the backs. The future is bright for the Cardinal O-line as they started 4 juniors up from today.
KP Skyles and O'conner carried the majority of the load and broke several long runs, and T.O had a 65 yeard Touchdown catch.

After seeing Sheldon Clark perform in the scrimmage against Nitro Saturday, my opinion of this group has increased a couple notches.
With Todd Matthews and BJ Jarrell playing on only a few downs, and Chase Lafferty and Tim Smith not playing, they still looked good.
KP Skyles and Tyler O'Connor performed well on offense and Taylor Chapman looked good on defense.
But overall my biggest surprise was the play of the line; they did exceptionally well, considering the fact that on offense only Jarred Stevens was a starter last year.
I truly believe that SC can give Rockcastle County a very competitive game. And we will have the opportunity to see this Saturday, August 20.

yea i also thought kp played well and tyler but from wat i heard taylor had 12 tackles and played very good and the o-line play great i was worried but not now i cant wait to watch them play rock this weekend

Rock is NO UNDERDOG, favorite yes, but underdog, are you kidding me. We return 90% of our team from last year. We are bigger, faster, stronger, more experienced and play alot of kids. We are in great shape from what I hear and saw at the scrimmages. Sheldon Clark will be lucky to gain over 100 yards rushing. Rock aint some little team, we stop the run, give up some on pass. Sorry SC, Rock will roll.

I believe this is going to be a heck of a game! I think SC will still be working out kinks from losing so much last year that it may cost them. I'm gonna take Rock in a close one 14-12

Sure wont let Rock be the underdog will you? Sheldon Clark is getting quite a bit of love with the new transfers. I have seen many preseason rankings with SC as a top 6-7 team in 3A AND many people have them in their mountain top 10.
When a person says underdog it does not ALWAYS mean they are the lesser-team, it means that the majority believe that SC will win. Rock is better, IMO, but with the record of last season and the hype around the team from Inez, Rock is going to Harrison County under the radar.
This isn't one of Tom and Tony's teams, we have not earned the right to come in beating our chest when we were 4-7 last season. After a few games, Rock will get that respect back.

Since I have not seen Rockcastle in any form, scrimmage or game, I will not make a prediction. But based upon what I heard and read, I think Rockcastle is a formidable opponent for Sheldon Clark.
I have, however, watched Sheldon Clark practice once, and I saw the Nitro scrimmage game. And I have concluded that SC is going to be somewhat better than I anticipated.
May the better team win, and let's hope for an injury free game for both teams.

I personally dont think they will be able to stop the cards, from what I here the cards have more speed on this team than any other team sheldon clark has had in the past.

The Cards are, for sure, blessed with some speed. They have some guys that can really move. If the line can step-up, and I believe they can, we will see a great game Saturday.

Just got back from watching the cards practice, the line is looking great practice was very agressive, this team is working excelent together, got to say they communicate better than the last couple of teams we have seen in the past.

Former there is more to Football then stoping the run!!!!!. I would thought you would know that after the Danville game last year. Yes Rock won there scrimages but they still need alot of work. They did not look like a top team like we would want them to be. If they come out looking like they did then. I hate to say it, but it will be a long night for the rockets. even tho we return alot. that does not mean nothing. a team has to prove it on the field. Rock has not done that yet. Hopefully they will. Sheldon clark return just as much weapons that rock has. Rock goes into the game unranked, Sheldon Clark is ranked 6th in 3A. in this weeks pickem contest 31 people picked sheldon clark to win 16 picked rockcastle. more people think SC will win. that makes rock the under dog.
