Harlan Co. @ Morristown East

HC comes off a regional championship last year and an impressive showing in a grid against Corbin, Morristown East from what I've read lost in the 1st round of the playoffs. They return a three year starter at QB who apparently likes to run the ball, he ran for 953 yards and 12 TD's and passed for 508 yards and 6 TD's. A sophomore running back who was all conference as a freshman, he ran for 588 yards and 4 TD's 3 of which were receiving. On defense they are led by 6"1' 225 Senior LB Nick Free who had 115 tackles last year (66 solo), but they gave up an average of 26 points a game last year.

Just from what I've read this team seems similar to last years Pulaski Co. Team whom the Black Bears lost to in the season opener, but beat in the regional championship game. The black bears had to replace a lot on defense but didn't seem to muss a beat as they pressured Corbins QB regulary.

I think it comes down to whoever passes the ball enough to establish a ground game.

Sounds like a true scramble QB.
Im excited to see how the Harlan co. Defense will do against that as not many teams around SEKY do that.

Listened to the Grid v. Corbin. Based upon the commentary and what HC has returning, MEast would have to be awfully good to win. Will take Bears by two or three scores.

Morristown will not be in the game. With Highlands and Johnson Cent. gone the Bears will be on the carpet in December. This is going to be their year. Five "A" is the best class to be in now. Go Bears!

According to Sonny Moore Power Ratings, Morristown East is ranked 118 overall and 29 in 5A.

I don't see Black Bears having too much trouble with them. Should be interesting to see if Morristown East has any type of answer for Marcus McMillian!

The Black Bears haven't won their first game of the season in the past three years. Hope they come out of their corner swinging this year!

Marcus has surely developed some moves and strength to go with that speed! Scrimmage or not he made Corbin look silly a few times! It sounds like Morristown East loads the line, the Black Bears will either pound it down their throat til they break (pure Larkey) or open up the passing game

Well, Bowling Green steps in to more than make up for HHS and JC! Bowling Green should come away with the title this season, probably knocking off St. X during the season to prove just how good they really are.

You may want to re-read.

BG does not replace HHS or JC, they are on the west side and the only thing the watcher stated was that the Bears would make it to the carpet, not win it. BG cannot keep the Bears from reaching the carpet.

Besides all we hear for the past 10 years is how BG is going to win the state, yet they never do.

Here is a fact:

If HC and BG make it to the finals, it will break all attendance records for all classes

HC will have no trouble with MEast unless they just have a TERRIBLE game, hope not! I always enjoy beating up on the out of state teams myself! Larkey is a great coach and everyone should have figured he'd make a team there eventually, much sooner than most could. Goodluck Bears!

Bowling Green is not in the same league with Highlands, but that's a good thing. I am just saying I would rather be in class 5A than class 4A or 6A. We are sitting in a great position this year.
