From all the games I've seen, it looks like all of them are still officiating this year, most all of them also work middle school games.

So do I, and the only official I've noticed not back is a certain female official this year. Based on what I recall, she was the only one I didn't see after a certain point in the season last year. At the rules clinic/preseason tourney yesterday, it appeared all of them were present except that one. I haven't heard anything about what resulted in anyone being banned though. And of course, no names, I was hoping you could point to a certain game or something though. Thanks.

There are a lot of new officials this year. I have saw some that are going to be preety good if they hang with it. The problem I have is that the officials are to inconsistent on their calls! One will call net one won't, etc.. At Allen Central players were really confused.

I volunteered to line judge at almost every home game last year (even though I think it should be officials and not just parents) and the officials made all the calls and did not go by anything that I did. So I had that mindset in volunteering this year and got yelled at twice for questionable calls because the official was waiting on me to make the call which I had made but I am guessing he didn't see it or whatever. This was the same official from last year so I am not sure if they were told something or what the deal is this year.

The key is to be fair and consistent, and ask questions before the match starts. All the officials have been very complimentary and willing to take the time to explain things to me before the matches. I've been doing it for four years now, really enjoy it. Had a situation once where I made a call, other team didn't agree and the players were letting me have it from the bench, and he told the coach afterwards he had no doubt it was what I called it because I've always taken the time to make sure I got it right. Key is confidence in your calls, make the call and don't wait for them to ask you, it makes you look unsure of yourself.

Last year was my first time ever being a line judge so I knew there would be some hiccups along the way but I felt I did a fairly good job and that is why I was asked to do it again this year. I met with the officials one time last year to make sure I was doing everything right and he really didn't say anything other than "thanks for helping". The majority of the information I got was from the coach and the internet. This year, I have only been a line judge one game so far. To me the officials (well at least one in particular) seem to have changed their handling of line judges.
