Braxton Tackett will be a really good player, in a system which can use his talents to the fullest. And lets not forget Peyton Case is probably the best freshman and for those of you who have actually seen the kid play, one of the 10 best players in the region already. Lets add to that Dylan Hamilton. He is use to playing the 5 when need be as a undersized player, and a very talented one at that. And then your bench will be deeper then the rest of the region. I would take Betsy Layne over anyone in the region next year.
Oh and by the way. You did make a prediction type statement above. Which in post #24 you stated that you didn't in any way. So which is it?
Can't wait to read your "spit" covered, name calling, intelligent response..

Zero inside game and zero senior leadership. Two things that took them to the regional finals last year.

In my opinion, it is still one more year before you can really count on Shelby Valley to be the best team in the region. The youth of this years squad will still be a huge factor as the "main" nucleus of the team will be freshmen and will slowing gain confidence through the year. Even though they did make it as the region champs I still have to say that they are the 3rd or 4th best team in the region behind Betsy Lane, Johnson Central, and potentially Pikeville.
HOWEVER, after this year, Shelby Valley may actually be back to competing downstate for mid-season tourney titles and hopefully competing for another run at a state title. One of the biggest factors for these young players is to begin playing and building that chemistry must like the Shelby Valley team with Elisha Justice and Ashley Hatfield etc. did. If you can master team ball, the overall talent can be managed in the high school game. Just look at the SV winning against Ballard a couple years ago.
But for this next year. my vote goes to Betsy Lane to have one more stab at it.

^The 57th District should be another 4 Team Knock Down Dragout!
Paintsville split with everyone except Lawrence Co. (which everyone swept). With the addition off Hunter Ratliff and the RUMOR of an addition of a certain player. Also with Matt Ison gaining the experience he did last year off the bench. They also return 3 maybe 4 starters! This will be Sublett's third year at the point. I might be biased. But, I think he has improved and gained confidence each year. EVERYONE of them have. Every since returning from the Beth Haven Tourney in Louisville.....Something just clicked and they looked like a TEAM the rest of the way. I look for them to surprise a few teams this season. I can't wait....But then I can wait. This will be a tough one for me. Last year I get to watch him play. I can say though. I'm proud of him, cause he earned everything he's got!

Yes the 57th will be a juggernaut this year and it will be extremely competitive. I had not heard of this rumored player that Paintsville is getting but I guess it would help out significantly in the end.

Does any one think about Paintsville for next year.....i hear that tiller is back so that will give a better shot at the 15th!

I would say that I agree with Scotty in that I don't see Shelby Valley competing for the region this year. I know I said the same thing last year about this time, and boy was I wrong, but who in the world ever figured that a team with a losing record would win the 15th and go to Rupp?
* On a side note, I will say that there's NO WAY Valley was the best team in the region last year, but maybe them winning was some sort of "make-up" for some years past when I believe SV was the best team in the 15th but didn't take the title.
Back to the topic, I agree that Betsy Layne appears to be the front-runner, but whatever teams represent the 57th at regionals will also have to be reckoned with. Any of Johnson Central, Paintsville, or Sheldon Clark could make a run at the title.

Juding from other's posts and knowing the situation that they are in, I feel as though Paintsville is a sleeper in the region this year. I would put them probably 4th but just like last year, that does not matter one bit when it matters.

15th Region belongs to Shelby Valley until they are knocked from the throne.
All contenders blew their chance last year as Shelby Valley had what looked to
be their weakest team in the schools history.

Shelby Valley is very young, but I think they will be right there in the mix for the regional championship again. There are several teams capable of winning it though.
