Belfry 2011
that is a lack of communication on franklin County's part. i agree with Ancie Casey. Franklin County is under contract they should be forced to play. With the rumor about Mingo Central playing Belfry this year i don't see that happening because The Miners have a home game on that date against Wyoming East. Most big schools in WV are affiliated with a conference so that eliminates alot of them. I have heard of teams before playing each other twice in the regular season due to lack of games.

joe you need to get on the ball, you fumbled on this one,you of all people should know who Belfry is trying to get,so get with it,lolTongueirateShoTongueirateShoTongueirateSho
i know that they are trying to get Highlands. Cris Collinsworth is the receivers coach. his son jac is on the team
how long do u think hit will take mingo central to be a state contender
when is 1st legal day khssa will let them practice?
for Mingo Central it may take at least 3 to 5 years to figure out things.

Idk when the legal first day but usually a week before we start. And we start The 25th.
Folks, I seriously doubt that it's going to be Highlands. Highlands already has a 10 game schedule and has had a 10 game schedule for a couple of months. The only possible way a Belfry vs Highlands matchup could occur is if one of the already scheduled teams chooses to allow Highlands to drop the game. This close to the season beginning, I just don't see that happening because that school would have a very hard time finding a replacement. I guess anything is possible but I'd say it's extremely, extremely unlikely.

I agree 100%. Belfry may not have a game in the PCB this year. Someone had mentioned that all the local teams in Ohio already had a 10 Game Schedule. I thought Mingo Central would have been the best bet but I heard that they also have a 10 Game Schedule
they will work something out somewhere, will somebody..
Cancel the pike county bowl!

If the PCB does not step up and make this situation right it could spell the end of Belfry's involvement moving forward. The Pirates would have little to no issue getting sponsorship for their own bowl game and have the facilities to host it.

When the PCB was in it's prime it presented the following advantages to Belfry:
- Great Competition
- Great gate with a State Power Pikeville squad
- The best facilities in the area (Vipperman Stadium was not fit for a Bowl venue)
- Statewide Media Attention and acclaim. The PCB was the PREMIER bowl game.

Now:
- The competition has resorted to "average" teams and teams who break their contract. It has went from Beechwood, Highlands, and Louisville Male in the past..... to Boyd County, Covington Holy Cross, and Harrison County n the present.
- Belfry controls the gate and Pikeville has fallen on hard times.
- Belfry now has the best facilities in the area. More seating, more parking, and a separate visitor side. Meanwhile, Belfry has been jockeyed out of hosting nights in favor of Shelby Valley?
- The PCB might not even be one of the Top 5-8 bowls in the State.

Imagine this format at CAM Stadium and the gate it would bring as a hypothetical:

Saturday @ 11 AM
Mingo Central, WV vs. Clintwood, VA

Saturday @ 3:30 PM
Sheldon Clark vs. Bluefield, WV

Saturday @ 8:00 PM
Belfry vs. Wayne, WV

You get a large Coal Corporation and several industries who rely solely on the mine industry to sponsor and mix and match between EKY, SW VA, East TN, and WV schools who all fall right in their marketing area. Each year your staple is Mingo Central, SC, and Belfry.

This would definitely be a larger draw than the current Pike County Bowl. Not to mention better facilities.

Very great thinking but only one team is from Pike county. And Pikeville should still be in the picture until another pike county team beats them or pike central could also be one

Ok ill try this

Friday at PC
East ridge vs. phelps.

shelby valley vs. um whoever no offense i just dont know

Pike Central vs. Mingo Central

Saturday at CAM
Pikeville vs Random opponent

Belfry vs any ohio team or 5a and up powerhouse
^^^

I am saying Belfry leaves the Pike County Bowl and does their own thing. I respect the Pikeville program, but from a business standpoint I think Mingo Central and Sheldon Clark makes more sense in terms of the gate.

Call it the "Border Bowl" or the "Coal Country Kick Off Classic"

East Ridge does this same event every season before the Pike Co. Bowl. It's sponsored by TECO.

or the Tri State Super Bash Bowl
you could also get Richlands Va,Gate city, or even Dobbens Bennitt from Kingsport, there not over 2hr drive..
Has anybody heard anything about the PCB game?
Scott county pcb
MADJACK75 Wrote:Scott county pcb

Scott County plays Webster County on Aug. 27 that would make two games in two days.
another site is reporting that Eminence is a possibility
Scott Co. is out Webster Co. is not buying out the contract
I like the idea of having an event like this at CAM . Wayne, WV won't play Belfry because of the points system. Wayne plays a difficult schedule plus they are in a conference.

I have been told that the Mingo Central kids are getting along and that summer practice numbers were good. The majority of the people that follow the program closely but are not biased have told me a possible playoff run could happen for the new school 6-4 record.

come on joe, help coach get a game for the pcb,lol
I think about the only way that Belfry gets a game is that the PCB committee is going to have to shell out money to a team so they can buyout a contract.

Shawnee is either canceling there whole season or just there Non-District Games so maybe Belfry can get one of there old opponents to come and play them (Kentucky Country Day, Eminence, Atherton)

Isn't that a scrimmage?

Richlands & Gate City play each other that weekend... they've opened against each other for at least 10 years now,
