Thereâs some solid talent in the Class of 2014 girlsâ class. Now, I am sure I havenât seen all the top players yet.
But itâs not hard to pick the top player at this point â LaRue County wing Ivy Brown. She averaged 15 points and nine rebounds as a freshman.
The 6-foot Brown is a talent.
Hereâs the current top players Iâve seen:
⢠1. Ivy Brown, LaRue County, 6-0: She could be a big-time performer before her career ends.
⢠2. MacKenzie Cann, Anderson County, 5-11: Sheâs not far behind Brown and helped her team to the Eighth Region title game last season.
⢠3. Danielle Lawrence, Butler, 5-10: Led her team in scoring as a freshman.
⢠4. Javonna Layfield, Ballard, 5-10: A ridiculous athlete.
⢠5. Nicole Kiernan, Newport Central Catholic, 5-10: Played like a veteran for the NewCath squad last season.
⢠6. Tereka Guyn, Scott County, 6-1
⢠7. Kayla Rankin, Perry County Central, 6-1
⢠8. Jenna Spencer, North Hardin, 5-11
⢠9. Devin Conley, Garrard County, 5-8
⢠10. Alexis Calhoun, Marion County, 6-1

I haven't seen most of these girls play but I have seen MacKenzie Cann play and she is a heck of a player and can shoot the lights out. Last year as a Freshman she broke the school record for most 3's made in a career. I expect her team to make it to Diddle this year as there is tons of talent on her team.

I have seen the 1, 3, 6, 9 and 10 players. They are pretty good.
Calhoun gets buried in the talent of Marion County but her time to shine will be soon.
Also, Conley is someone to watch for. She could be pretty good in that VERY winnable 12th Region this season.

I have also seen Danielle Lawrence play and she is a very good player. Butler really impressed me last year.
