Actually in grades 9-12, Owsley County's enrollment is 269 while Harlan's enrollment is 238. As far as Roderick Rhodes goes, He is probably either running from something(skeletons in the closet) or using this as a publicity stunt because he hasn't received any in a very long time. If for some reason he does come, he probably would just stay one year because the culture shock would get the best of him. I do not know if Owsley County has any other quality choices but at Harlan, Coach Akal would be a great choice and he would stay in the community and be dedicated to the success of the youth at their school. He has already proven himself in that regard.

I don't understand why he'd show so much interest in these two schools when Greenup County has an opening and is one of the winningest programs in the 16th region with multiple regional titles and an amazing talent pool.

This probably doesn't have anything to do with it but, haven't you seen all the uproar with the coaching in that district over the past 2-3 years with all the administrative, AD, community, mommy & daddy issues?:yikes:

Greenup Co has to be the worst coaching job in KY these days.

Wrong, as far as high school numbers are concerned.
Per KHSAA website, Owsley County has 269 students in grades 9-12 and Harlan has 238.
Owsley County's enrollment is more than Harlan.

I looked everywhere on KHSAA and couldn't find them but Owsley isn't that much bigger than Harlan.

My guess is he has put in applications/resumes for most job openings around Kentucky.
I agree, if he's interested in "winning it" (I assume he means the big trophy at Rupp in March) then he best be trying to find a way to convince Warren Central, South Laurel, Christian County, and similar type schools to give him a job. I don't think Harlan or Owsley is his answer, unless he brings a team along with him--- sons, nephews, and cousins, etc, preferrably 6'5 to 6'8 range with a quick good shooting guard to run the show. Then he might get to this>:1:

At the top of the Home Page of khsaa.org you'll find "enrollments". Click on it and it has all the enrollments for 2010 for all high schools in Kentucky who are KHSAA members.

Yes, but he'd be in a better opportunity to win.

Has there been any other names mentioned in the pot as far as other interests in the coaching position for Owsley?

Warren Central is one of the top 10 programs in the state.

I believe Honeycutt will get the Owsley Job. Rhodes would be a very good/huge pickup for the Owls but with Warren Central open and Christian County being Open (Not sure if they've hired someone or not) I believe he would go to one of those schools but if he comes to Owsley and if he brings some players with him (If he has any) that would make the 56th more competitive than what it is
06-07-2011, 08:52 PM
Has Honeycutt expressed any interest in the Owsley County job?

I don't think the Greenup County administration wants to win. I think they look at it as a threat to football. In the past the principal, AD, and superintendent were all X football coaches from the same staff. I am not sure if they have had any turnover in these positions.

another site is reporting that Warren Central will announce a New Coach tomorrow Morning at 11 am in a Press Conference

I remember Rhodes and honestly was a huge fan while he was here. I'm also trying to remember, if I'm correct, Jason Kidd was the only player that wasranked higher than Rhodes out of high school. And he played at USC after he left UK.

I hope Rhodes goes to Owsley. I want to see him in the 14th. I have a feeling, he is going to be a Green Dragon tho.
