#1
Looks like Owsley County is going for a homerun hire.

never heard of him but if Owsley does get him that would be a huge pickup for the Owls

Probably to young. He was Pitino's second big recruit at UK next to Jamal Mashburn. He was a highly regarded prosepect out of high school. I think he was all sec a couple times and during his time at UK, at moments he showed how good he could be, but other times he was very childish.

Does he have any coaching experience?

If Owsley can get him It will be a heck of a pick up for them
#6
That would be a nice pick for the name alone. Hope he doesn't turn out to be one of those examples of: "Just because you can play the game doesn't mean you can coach"
#7
If this is not a hoax, I hope he gets the job.
#8
Name alone, it would be a good pick up. It would get more players out.

He has been on staff as an assistant at at least one college and maybe more. Not sure if he has any Head Coaching experience though.

I always liked Rhodes and thought he got a very raw deal from Pitino. Rhodes played about as hard as anybody ever has for UK but despite his great ability, he had a knack for making big mistakes late in close games. Rhodes cost UK a few games but he not deserve the poor treatment that Slick Rick dished out.

Surely this can't be true! Owsley County is seriously going for Roderick Rhodes??!! Talk about having some what of a celebrity as a head coach!! This would be quite the steal if Owsley County could pull this off. There are not too many kids that can say that there coach played for UK and in the NBA! This type of hire would put Owsley County on the map! I hope to see this happen, this would be awesome!

Rhodes will also go down in UK lore as the recruit Pitino pushed out the door to get Ron Mercer in.

That said, I'm pulling for this to happen for Owsley. It will definitely spread some excitement around their program.

No hoax, just saw the story on the news!

This would be great for Owsley, and if he can bring along a couple of 6'7 sons it would be even greater.

Yes Ch 27 was reporting it last night.

I've also heard that he's inquired about the Harlan Job also
#20
Should be interesting because, although Harlan is futher away from Lexington and Louisville, Harlan is bigger. Along with that comes a bigger talent pool. Should be interesting to see what happens.

I got a call about this one earlier today.
From what I hear he's a lock.
It's a matter of him taking the job or not.

I don't think Harlan is bigger than Owsley County.
It's Harlan, not Harlan County. There are two different schools.
#23
Harlan is bigger than Owsley

Harlan - 528 Total Students (5-12)

Owsley County - 375 Total Students (7-12)

Harlan

Owsley County

It's still gonna be interesting where he goes. It would be a very good pickup for the Owls and would put them back on the map
#25
The question is why in the world would Roderick Rhodes want to come to those schools or any other schools in Eastern Kentucky to coach.
#26
Why not Camden, NJ? Red flag if you ask me. Hope not.
#27
UKisN1,
I agree, Daddy always told me that if sounds to good to be true, it usually is not worth having in the first place.
#28
Your daddy is a smart man.
