Itâs official. The Southeastern Conferenceâs athletic directors approved the recommendation of the basketball coaches that the leagueâs two divisions unite as one effective immediately. The league will now be a single twelve team conference, doing away with the East and West. For the time being, they will keep the same 16-game schedule under the old format. What will happen in 2012-13 is still under review.
Rejoice, my brothers and sisters! We are now united as one!

Is this offical? I know the coaches voted to go away with the divisons but I thought the commitee has to agree before coming final.

everything passed at the SEC meetings today, I know many are going to hate this but I kinda like it.

I know for getting more teams from the SEC into the NCAA tournament this is probably a good thing. However, that will mean more league games for UK and as a UK fan I'm not a fan of that.

They should have never gone to divisions for basketball.

If this would have been implemented last year, Bama would have been in the NCAA tourney.. I like it.

Love it. No reason for a team to get a bye in the SECT over a team who is two games (or more) higher in the standings.
