cornette is good...adding him with roberts, tackett, and hamilton they have a good team...and im sure jr has coached many kids in his past and im sure he knows how to coach them too

Brent Corrnett maybe the MOST UNDERRATED player in the entire region. Andrew Roberts is one of the most talented players in the region with big game experience. Braxton Tackett will be a really good player, in a system which can use his talents to the fullest. And lets not forget Peyton Case is probably the best freshman and for those of you who have actually seen the kid play, one of the 10 best players in the region already. Lets add to that Dylan Hamilton. He is use to playing the 5 when need be as a undersized player, and a very talented one at that. And then your bench will be deeper then the rest of the region. I would take Betsy Layne over anyone in the region next year.

I'm not trying to stir up anything, but isn't that 3 players (off top my head) from 3 different schools now that Betsy Layne has aquired? Doesnt sound like there gonna miss a beat. They where my preseason favorite last year & are becoming my favorite for this year.

Considering half the teams in that district (AC/Pburg) don't even have head coaches right now you can't really blame a kid or his family for wanting some stability or the chance to win. Also, I'm sure the KHSAA has to clear them all to play. All the transfers my not even happen.

I agree with this except I would flip Betsy Layne and Johnson Central. Like the Onion said, until someone takes it away from them, the region is Shelby Valley's.

Won an All A State Championship last season so I wouldn't consider that being to bad with "their own boys." JC got skaggs last season, Valley got Devins Adams a couple seasons ago. Kids are always transferring. Landon Hale is actually from Betsy Layne btw. No one is digging up any players. The Cody Luster kid has been at Betsy Layne since the middle of last season and Cornette has been rumored to be transferring every since he quit at Pike Central. But back on topic..

1) Johnson Central- Good big man in Shane Hall and strong freshman and sophomore class.

2) Betsy Layne- Returning Andrew Roberts and Dylan Hamilton. With transfers of Braxton Tackett, Luster and Cornette this team will be a force to be reckoned with if they can work out all the kinks.

3) Shelby Valley- Very good freshman and sophomore class.

well ,I said Last year back up and check the history .Last summer I predicted Valley playing on the floor at Rupp winning the 15th region. If Greg Newsome is still there this year he will have to coach for the region win this year and if anybody can he can. But I predict this to Valleys down year. Unless their kids get crowth spurts and their this years underclassmen will really have to improve and step up without the Roberts boys. But if the young players at surrounding schools wants to make a few trips to Rupp. After this year its Valleys for a few more years . MARK IT DOWN

Shelby Valley will repeat. The rest of the region is not mentally tough enough to overcome the SV mystique in March when it counts the most. They can recruit all they want to but the Wildcats will remain at the top of the mountain.

Everyone has there opinion and reason to it but those who have watched the camp this week can see that Betsy Layne has beat some REALLY good teams. They're littered with upper classmen and have younger talent that could state for any other team in the region. They're really deep when you go by the bench and will be impossible to guard man to man and can shoot too well from position to position to play a simple zone. You will have to pick your poison against this team this year. Maybe as good as last years team, even though they do not have a superstar like Martin...the team as a whole maybe better from the starting five to the last man who will get time off the bench.

I just spit in the face of the defending regional champions, I just spit in the face of Johnson Central, of Pikeville, of Sheldon Clark and every other team in this region without saying Betsy Layne would beat any of them! As a matter of fact, and this is not directed at the 99.9% of people that can read my words and realize I never said anything that resembles a prediction, I never mentioned a another school! My statement, which did nothing but praise Betsy Layne and made no bold predictions what so ever, somehow managed to scream a prediction! Bravo! Bravo! Once again, the narrow minded opinions, lack of observational abilities and comprehension of the English language of SOME people on Bluegrass Rivals is shining through in all its glory! You are the perfect example of someone not reading a statement for its value rather then what you wish to twist the words into! But by all means, please point out where in my original statement I said anything that would apply theirs "no reason to play the 2011-2012 season!" But I will give you credit! Or probably basketball at all! And I will give you some credit, you did strike a nerve! But I do not enjoy someone insulting myself and my school. Mocking my words is an insult, just so you know! And why are you so set on "handing BL the trophy?" That's the only words you seem to know! And they do not make any sense anyways? Who said that last year? Who has said that this year? This site is about opinions, people come on here and express there opinions. But then we have you, someone who tries to take a innocent opinion and make it an insult. In your case, I believe its jealously because Betsy Layne beat Paintsville last year in the All A Regional Final and because Betsy Layne managed to do last year what Paintsville was not able to do in 2008! Which to all the other Paintsville Tigers' fans, I do realize you played a Scotty Hopson team that year that was far better then any team Betsy Layne played last year. So please do not take my words as me saying last years Betsy Layne team was better then the 08 Tigers, that is certainly not what I am saying. But as for this past season, I'm not upset about losing the Regional Title. Pikeville was better then us the night they beat us out, cannot change that! However! When I walk into the dome to coach my boys at Betsy Layne grade school, there is a banner hanging above me that says 2010 - 2011 All A State Champs! I'll take that any day over the Regional Championship last year. As for this season, I have faith in our boys! I believe we have the talent to win the region. And as for seeing us this season, you talk like you have the ability to step on the floor and make a difference! You and I are both past our prime! What happens on the floor between Betsy Layne, Paintsville and any other team in the region depends on the boys who put the hard work in. Not what a couple of guys on a website say just because they're butting heads! And I'll go ahead and address your only argument to that statement! I do believe our boys have the talent to be the best team in the region but I'm not going to come on here and make some bold statement saying they will! Its not right or fair for me to say something like that when I am not the one having to back up the words! So by all means, go ahead and say something about me being scared because my words make it sound like I'm worried about playing Paintsville next year. I'm not, because this game taught me a long time ago that any team can beat any other team on any given night! But I am not going to say something that others will take personal and cause them to say things in response about me and my school. Don't get me wrong what BL did winning the all a state tourny was certainly a moment that they should be proud of, but in saying that I do not believe it is up there with being a regional champion and playing in Rupp as one of the best 16 teams in the entire state. McBrayer is not and never will be Rupp. The caliber of team in the All A and in the sweet 16 is very different.....look how many teams BL beat in the All with losing records. Its a great acomplishment but not the ultimate pride. Ask those kids which one they would have rather went to and you'll hear the sweet 16. Every coach coaches for the big one in Lexington....I understand you taking up for your school but no way would I compare the all a state championship with an appearence at Rupp....that is a stretch. Wishing the Bobcats and you the best of luck net season.

No one was insulting you in any fashion. Jealousy???? Please...we have a REAL State Trophy in our case. I for one done nothing but support BL last season and watched every game they played at EKY.

As far as "War of words" All I did was make two small statements. You are the one that feels he has to justify himself with 2000 word replies. Grow some thicker skin. And it seems that the only one acting "Childish" is you. YOU are the only one I see getting all bent out of shape and calling people names. No matter what you say. No one is gonna GIVE BL the trophy.
