No more divisions for SEC basketball
#1
It’s official. The Southeastern Conference’s athletic directors approved the recommendation of the basketball coaches that the league’s two divisions unite as one effective immediately. The league will now be a single twelve team conference, doing away with the East and West. For the time being, they will keep the same 16-game schedule under the old format. What will happen in 2012-13 is still under review.

Rejoice, my brothers and sisters! We are now united as one!

Is this offical? I know the coaches voted to go away with the divisons but I thought the commitee has to agree before coming final.

everything passed at the SEC meetings today, I know many are going to hate this but I kinda like it.

I know for getting more teams from the SEC into the NCAA tournament this is probably a good thing. However, that will mean more league games for UK and as a UK fan I'm not a fan of that.

Finally!! It is about time that they get rid of the Divisions!!

If this would have been implemented last year, Bama would have been in the NCAA tourney.. I like it.

Love it. No reason for a team to get a bye in the SECT over a team who is two games (or more) higher in the standings.
