Lawrence County 2 Paintsville 1 (57th District Championship)
#1
Very good game. Congrats LC. Some District winner is gonna have a tough first round opponent.

Tate Banks struggled at the plate, but came up huge on the mound in several situations one even being bases loaded in the top of the 7th inning and got out of it with 0 runs. Senior Cody Moore for LC was awarded tournament MVP as he delivered the game winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Awesome game to watch

LC looked like a very weak hitting team in the tournament.

but they did what they had to do to get the win if LC's pitchers bring their A game they will be hard to beat

This was probably one of the best highschool baseball games of the year in the mountains. Both teams showed up to play and you could tell both really wanted that district title. Congrats to both teams for an awesome game.

Got to listen to this one on the radio because I didn't make the trip to Inez assuming that it was going to wash it out.LOL. But congrats to both teams on a very well paid game it sounds like. Shout out to Josh Moore for hitting a big HR that, for a while, looked like it would be the only run of the ballgame. Also outstanding job by both pitchers in Banks and Dustin VanHoose. Very impressive game any way you look at it. I'd hate to be the district winner that draws Paintsville in the Regional Tournament. This bunch is really clicking.

I thought that when Paintsville announced that John Doug was going to be the new coach they had the right guy. I knew that he would bring a well prepared team into the distict tournament whenever that time came around. Baseball players are not born, they are developed. He's been a good friend for a lot of years. Heck of a nice guy and a heck of a coach. Looks like this group has gotten better and better as the season has gone on and has bought into whatever philosophy that he has implimented, which in knowing John Doug that has entailed hard work and discipline. Best of luck.

I agree Seger, John Doug was the right hire for the program. I've known him for a very long time and he's been a longtime family friend and I couldn't have picked a better person for the job myself. All he's done from his time coaching little league and up is win ballgames, and this season has shown to be no different.

I thought a lot of the former staff as well, but thought that he was the natural as being the successor.

Bob I could not agree with you more. Like you I knew what the results would be following the hire. Fans the best part is yet to come. The timeleness of the hire is most regretable to me. It should have been sooner. But that's life I suppose. I feel real lucky to come out of Inez with a W. Anyone watching the game could not disagree. I love those Tigers and there are no loosers there.

As a fan of the game this was a pleasure to watch. Both pitchers did a nice job of mixing up their pitches and keeping batters off balance with fastball, and curveballs. Both teams seemed to be realyl athletic and talented, hated to see this one end.

Congrats to Lawrence County on the win, Paintsville keep your heads up your still in it and keep working hard. Awesome game, thanks for the performance!!
