Why on earth would Randy McCoy want to leave University Heights for East Ridge? University Heights has a shot to go back to state now that Christian Co. is going through a coaching change and East Ridge has no shot of even winning the district for three or four years. And who is Weirewillie?

Not really sure why he would want to end up at East Ridge either, but if he is looking to come back this way, that's the only one going to be open, it looks like. Interesting rumor, I haven't seen anything confirmed yet though that Justice is leaving ERHS. A lot of people are saying "it is done", but I haven't seen anything in the media yet to confirm it.

I guess Justice's boy practicing and playing already this summer for Knott County is not a good enough clue to everyone...

Yeah, justice is definitely out at ERHS.. Still wondering why we didnt offer him something here..

What about coach Little up there? Was he not interested? Their JV up there has been tough as nails under him.

It is done. I was told by a teacher at East Ridge, that Raymond turned his keys in last Friday, and is gone.

Randy McCoy was the coach for Elkhorn City High School before moving on to Pikeville College. Doesn't not make sense coming to East Ridge. The house always wins.

Where are you from? First thing is all you have to do is copy and paste,Weirewillie... Coach "Wierwille" was RJ's head assistant at ER last year and an assistant at Pikeville College! His Dad was a coach for Berea College. And, his son was a great asset last year to the program and the kids. My son attends ER and thinks very highly of him! I know he is ALL ABOUT THE KIDS! I'm mostly a bystander. But, I do think he is the man for the job! We need someone fresh, young and willing to go the extra mile! And, I think he would!
Just sayin'

Yeah I would like to see a young coach take the reigns of the team also, if he gets a few years under McCoy then so be it, Either way, just like to see a young talented coach eventually take it and get some stability to the team...

You mean the bald guy? All he done at both places is keep stats, he has never coached five players on the floor I dont think.. But yeah i have heard he is a real nice guy, he would need some experience with a JV or freshman squad for a while first i think before taking the helm n building a program!

Wow COLD AS ICE. For somone who has a kid at east ridge you sure know alot about bryan station and university heights and pikeville college. According to your posts anyway. And for that matter alot about Wierwille, cause I have a kid there that knows nothing about him other than he helped with basketball as an upaid assistant last year and that yes he is a nice guy but was hardly ever there and didnt do much in practice other than keep time and set out cones. But it really doesnt matter to me, mine is graduating, but he learned nothing under Justice and felt that the past two years the team stood still cause it was all about his son and we all know he blew the district. I mean when you yell at everyone for else for shooting the ball, everyone in that gym knew that Cam was taking the last one. And I know my kid wasnt the best but he averaged 14pts a game on the JV the year before and was scared to death not to pass to Cam this year and only took about 2 shots a game. So if your pulling for Wirewille COLD AS ICE, dont lump him in with Raymond if you want alot of support cause the only reason he is such a hot ticket is because his son is really really good .... and I hear Knott isnt even letting him be the head coach for the same reason he shouldnt have been at EAST RIDGE,, so it wont be all about his son......

Randy McCoy was at the Pike County Bd of Education offices on May 10th.
He met with officials there in the morning and sources say that he is wanting to come back to Eastern Ky. With the anticipated loss of teachers a problem will be justifying taking someone's job from the classroom when you have capable people already employed in the system that can do the job coaching.
A tough situation for the personnel office to say the least. Weirwillie has the pedigree, his father was one of the best coaches ever in the KIAC. He grew up knowing basketball. Little may not be ready for Varsity but he is quickly developing a reputation as a good coach and his day is not far off either.

Finally someone with some sense. Little has definitely proven he can coach and win up here and we all love Coach Roll, so why cant those two just take over for Raymond and not put the players through another program change?
05-15-2011, 09:58 PM
What has Little won up there,, last I checked there are no JV tournaments so how has he proven he can win,, and how does being the son of a good coach and a nice guy make you a good coach,, Im the son of a barber and a nice guy but I dont think u would let me cut your hair. If the job was posted and not kept such a secret because of poliitics Im sure we could get some better applicants than has beens or rookies.

I think it was a waste of time for Coach J to come to ER. He did nothing but hinder the growth of the basketball program up there. He is leaving the team with no point guard capable of getting the ball down the floor. Too much focus was put on his son. I totally agree with "instheknows" several players were not allowed to play to their potential -- due to the fact that the ball had to get in #5's or Big Jake's hands for the last shot. Then there was that other senior that on occasion went out there and played like he was in the twilight zone -- zoned completely out -- didn't even run the plays the coach yelled and he continued to stay in the game. ER needs a new coach that will run the distance with the program -- bring excitement back to the program -- sorry Little is not the guy. As for the incoming freshman wanting to go to other schools so their parents can get them in a "winning" program -- what are you people ashamed of your school and your community? Now we all see where ER gets it's winning attitude. Its from all its loyal parents in the community.
For the boys returning to the ER team, keep your heads up and your game on -- have pride in yourselves. When ball season rolls around -- take it to the floor -- have no mercy on the people who talked about you and left you high and dry. Another word of advice, get rid of the Roll Tribe slogan. It sounds ridiculous -- what are you rolling up there a peace pipe?!! Just a suggestion!!!!!!!!! Go Panthers -- BACK

Well if you think Justice was a waste of time, the McCoy will really turn you off. They are cut from the same cloth only McCoy has spilled more on his. Ive heard this whole deal of McCoy coming back was Justices doing, and when Justice gets settled again in the 14th region McCoy will be joining him.

Have pride in ourselves??? Ashamed of our school???? Its the other way around..Dont be contradictory.. The school has no pride in our kids or,, We keep getting everyones political garbage up here. Our coaches are never good enough so we keep getting people from out of the area to do the job,, Why cant the school take pride in its community and its coaches.. Van Swindall has done a hell of job at Elkhorn year in and year out and the parents love him, Gary Walton used to be one of the best and has never had anything but the kids best interests at heart, Brodie done a great job at Feds Creek has the energy and youth to build a program, and even won the County Tournament but couldnt get a job up here to keep him around, Eric Ratliff acomplished more than the one we ran him off for without a D1 point guard prospect for a son, Little has kicked but with the JV squad and every year we wonder if they are not better than the varsity, and they say Weirwille has college experience with the National Champion Pikeville University Bears, All people who not only have a history of winning,, but a history of winning in our community... So why do we have to outsource for coaches, when there are plenty of people already IN THIS COMMUNITY who are capable, willing, and most important would LOVE to and WORK HARD to see good things happen up here not just good things happen to themselves so they can move on to bigger and better... And the best part is you wouldnt have to pay them under them table extra for their "NAME" just to find out there is a reason they were not wanted where they were and their well has run dry!!! So dont talk to me about kids transferring, because if they cant be coached by people in their community dont blame them for wanting to choose the other communities coach they want to learn from!!! And the last year Randy McCoy was coach at Elkhorn City its a fact that 4 out of the 5 starters were not from Elkhorn,, so how is that pride in your school? "Lets go Millard, Millard, Fedscreek, Kroatia, and Elkhorn" or two years from now. "Lets go Grundy, Hurley, Phelps, and others"

Whats the big deal. State Champion Shelby Valley job opened last year, State Champion Christian County opened this year, but everyone is going at it and getting all bent out of shape over who gets to coach at East Ridge who hasnt won squat in a decade. Thats why the only people interested I guess are people who have been run off elswhere for personal reasons, whose coaching careers are washed up and cant get anything else, or those that have no real experience so they cant get anything else.

I hope the players' attitudes don't reflect the negative, hostile attitudes of the parents and community members. People, remember this is just a game -- life goes on. You can't stop the system nor politics. I haven't seen much from either middle school programs. Brody Justice would have never won the county tournament with out Camron J and what county tournament has Elkhorn won lately? I didn't see Eric Ratliff do much for the program. You people need to calm down and accept what you've got and who you are getting. Your child's playing time is going to be gone and you will have nothing to show for it but the lines on your face from worrying too much. Other schools in the county all ready talk about your school and now you are on here adding to the humiliation -- give it a break. Go Panthers!!!!!
05-19-2011, 08:58 AM
Panther boy you are from pikeville like I am from phelps! And I
don't blame anyone for being outtaged that McCoy is coming back but the fact is
the principal up here needs someone to take over the school now that Raymond is leaving. He all but brought Rays breakfast to him in the morning so he could run all the days decisions by him. Maybe its because he is never there or because he hates responsibility but he needs someone to take over all aspects of ER and that suits McCoy ok I guess! But the logical thing to do would have been to post the job 3 weeks ago when Ray told them he was leaving so we were not left with tue sole options of McCoy or inexperienced coaches!

Poor East Ridge, just can't keep it together! They need to be happy that anybody would come coach there after all the crap the coaches have to put up with.

You're all erratic.
05-21-2011, 03:30 PM
If Wagner can find the money, McCoy will be the next coach. Hope ER can handle the baggage.
