Jeneca Thomas pitched a complete-game shutout as Collins topped host Shelby County 8-0 Monday night in the first softball meeting between the two schools.

The Titans (7-6, 2-1 in the 30th District) pounded out 15 hits, including three each from Sara Chambers and Sydney Cloyd, in their first game since a 1-0 loss to fourth-ranked Mercy Academy. Rebecca Mouser and Bailey Rankin added two RBIs apiece for Collins, which is scheduled to play at No. 2 Ballard on Wednesday night.

The Rockets (3-8, 1-3), who were coming off back-to-back victories, got two hits apiece from Brittany Kendall and Sydney Wright. Shelby County hosts Spencer County on Wednesday in another 30th District game.

They're doing pretty good. They are a young but talented team with great coaching. They have been getting better as the season goes on and their pitching and defense has gotten much better. They almost beat Mercy a week ago.
