The University of Kentucky has had it's fair share of luck with walk-ons in recent years, and their hoping they've struck again. This time the Wildcats hope they've struck gold in their own backyard at Henry Clay High School with Henry Clay athlete Jerry Williams agreeing to walk-on.
Williams had interest from "Louisville,Bowling Green,Georgia Tech,Tennessee,UT-Martin,Eastern
Kentucky,Indianapolis,Campbellsville,Pikeville, and Morehead State" to go along with the Cats.
Williams says he was wooed to Kentucky by linebackers coach Chuck Smith. He would also add that "It felt great everytime I was on campus, I felt like I was at home." Williams also said "they treated me not like a player, but a family member."
Williams says he'll show up to the Lexington campus as an athlete in which he's had many different positions discussed with him including "kick returner, punt returner, wide reciever, corner back, and free safety depending on if I get big enough."
The 6'0 165 lbs. star says he would compare himself to "Randall Cobb and Pat White, I use their games to critique what they do and add it to mine."
When it was ready to make his decision Williams said he had a lot of keys including "my family put their opinion in, it was close to home, and the staff set it all off" before adding "my high school coaches also helped me."
