They made that rule last year where KY teams couldn't do it. Does anyone think they are going to overturn it.

Not this year. The latest KHSAA newsletter outlined very strictly the fact that no teams could compete in any way in June.

KHSAA does some stupid things when it comes to football. They've out lawed team camps and 7 on 7. I'm not sure how teams are supposed to get better.

The schools did this stupid thing; not the KHSAA.

Yes; I should have specified football only.

How did the schools do this? I wouldn't be surprised, I just really do not know.
Although, as a coach, I'm not entirely opposed to it. We already have spring practice. In Indiana, we did not have spring practice, but we could compete all summer long. It sure made for a long summer. It was good, don't get me wrong. But with spring practice and June and July, it seems like you'd really be taking these kids out of their ability to be kids for a while. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you, but if you want to be special you'll have to endure long summers and probably will not do a lot of the things that other kids are doing.

If you really want to be dedicated in the offseason<----Go to the weight rule religously. Go to your local track, walking track and run your guts out. Invite a few of your buddies " No Coaches", and do your own thing. YouTube has a great deal of football instructions to do on your own or with a friend. Just make sure there is no coaches.

A school submitted a proposal that eliminated 7s during June; it was submitted to the schools to vote on at the annual delegates meeting; and over 2/3s of the school voted in favor of it.

The only difference, albeit a major one, from year's past is that football teams cannot have interschool competetion in June.
Football can still practice as many days as they'd like during June with Coaches present and instructing players.
Football can also play as much 7 on 7 as they'd like during June... Just not versus another school...

Oh I agree completely. Don't get me wrong, I'll put in all the time in the world. I wouldn't mind practicing every day. But I'm a coach, not a teenage kid who has lots of other things going on, including being a kid.

Maybe the schools just wanted to give the kids a break. I don't know exactly why the schools would want it to be like that otherwise. Cut down on transportation costs??

Could you start an "AAU" 7 on 7 league and run it in June. How Khsaa have any way to stop that?

I'm sure schools had varying reasons to vote for it; I was just correcting the poster that was blaming the KHSAA for the June inter-term 7s no longer being permitted.

Interesting thought. Not sure how that would work out considering there isn't any current existing AAU type of football. Wouldn't you have to have some AAU coaches then instead of the HS ones?

I appreciate it. I do not and will not claim to know all. Still figuring out all the rules and regulations in this state as far as all that stuff is concerned.
