Way To Go Lakers!
If The Bulls Win Tomorrow against The Nets (IN Chicago) then the Bulls will have the best record/team going into the playoffs.
This will be the only time that I root for LA

The way the Lakers have been playing lately, I did not expect them to win this one!

Big deal. The Lakers battle back in a home game to slide by the Spurs, who had Ginobli, Parker, and Duncan on the bench.

And Hoot makes another appearance in here to pass out some hate in a Laker thread.
Hate all you want, big guy

Well I guess that sums this game up pretty well.

I didn't see anybody saying it was a big deal.

It wasn't a big deal...
The Lakers beat the Spurs with their starters on the bench, who have got rights to the #1 seed..
It was a win/win for the Spurs by keeping the starters cool.
The game meant diddly squat because the seedings for these two teams are written in stone, and the "regular season doesn't mean anything" chant can happen right now.. So go ahead, because I promise this game meant nothing.

I don't like to see teams bench starters after clinching playoff spots. What you gain by reducing the risk of injury, you risk losing in terms of momentum. OTOH, it's impossible for a team to feel like they have broken out of a slump when the other team has its star players on the sidelines.

The Spurs stars are all pretty old.
I think the Spurs made a good move.
If the Heat benched their starters....stupid.
The Knicks bench their starters.....stupid.
If the Spurs bench their starters....good move lol
I mean these guys are hardened veterans with multiple rings.
I don't think they lose much by taking a game off.

However, I still have a problem with teams not putting their best product on the floor to win every game to which they charge admission. Exhibition games are for the pre-season. It is even worse when veterans do take the floor and give less than their best effort because they don't think regular season games matter. It shows a serious lack of respect to the fans who pay their salaries, IMO.

Nor are they worthy of anybody's adoration.
I fall in that category in between who recognizes that entertainers are rarely the people their fans believe them to be. Real heroes in the world of sports like Pat Tillman are few and far between.

Kobe has a Masters in English. I know you don't like him for some reason, but his accomplishments speak for themselves.
I agree, Tillman is a true American hero.

If that statement is true, then Kobe definitely deserves a refund. What acclaimed institution of higher learning issued an master's degree to Kobe? Which university awarded him an undergraduate degree and what was his undergraduate major? (Honorary degrees don't count.)

Why hate on his intelligence? I'm sure you don't know him personally. You do realize he was going to dUKe, if he were to have played college ball, and dummys can't get into that university.
I don't have a link to that statement, but Mark Jackson said it during one of the Laker games.

It the quote is accurate and true, then it should be very easy to find a link to substantiate your claim.

I am sure that Kobe's parents sent him to some good schools but nobody is going to mistake him for an English professor. A player with a Master's degrees in English might have used a different obscenity that would not have drawn a $100,000 fine from the league. That money would have paid for some poor student's entire college education - or his own.

He wasn't being sarcastic and I don't why he'd lie about it on national TV.
Kobe was in the heat of the moment, all of us have said stuff inappropriate when were upset.

Most of us have never been public figures but know better than to use certain words in public, no matter how angry we are. Like I said, there are many obscenities that would not have slurred any group and resulted in a much lower fine.

I never said Mark Jackson lied - just that he was mistaken or speaking sarcastically. Think about it...if Kobe spent the number of hours in a real classroom necessary to earn a graduate degree, don't you think that you would have heard about it from more than one source by now (not the least of which would be Kobe's own mouth)?
