The Lakers beat the Spurs with their starters on the bench, who have got rights to the #1 seed..

It was a win/win for the Spurs by keeping the starters cool.
The game meant diddly squat because the seedings for these two teams are written in stone, and the "regular season doesn't mean anything" chant can happen right now.. So go ahead, because I promise this game meant nothing.

I don't like to see teams bench starters after clinching playoff spots. What you gain by reducing the risk of injury, you risk losing in terms of momentum. OTOH, it's impossible for a team to feel like they have broken out of a slump when the other team has its star players on the sidelines.

You make a good case for resting veteran starters. However, I still have a problem with teams not putting their best product on the floor to win every game to which they charge admission. Exhibition games are for the pre-season. It is even worse when veterans do take the floor and give less than their best effort because they don't think regular season games matter. It shows a serious lack of respect to the fans who pay their salaries, IMO.

You might feel differently if you paid good money to watch a top-tier team during the regular season, only to see a bunch of second and third stringers play. Most of us cannot afford good playoff tickets very often.

:Clap: Good point. I think that I have been more critical of the Spurs than the Lakers. Maybe I am just hating on a league that rips paying fans off by condoning teams not playing to win every game of the season.

If that statement is true, then Kobe definitely deserves a refund. What acclaimed institution of higher learning issued an master's degree to Kobe? Which university awarded him an undergraduate degree and what was his undergraduate major? (Honorary degrees don't count.)

Why hate on his intelligence? I'm sure you don't know him personally. You do realize he was going to dUKe, if he were to have played college ball, and dummys can't get into that university.

I believe that Mark Jackson was mistaken or maybe he was being sarcastic. It the quote is accurate and true, then it should be very easy to find a link to substantiate your claim.

The man is 32 years old and lived in the public spotlight since he was in high school. Most of us have never been public figures but know better than to use certain words in public, no matter how angry we are. Like I said, there are many obscenities that would not have slurred any group and resulted in a much lower fine.

I never said Mark Jackson lied - just that he was mistaken or speaking sarcastically. Think about it...if Kobe spent the number of hours in a real classroom necessary to earn a graduate degree, don't you think that you would have heard about it from more than one source by now (not the least of which would be Kobe's own mouth)?
