Playing college basketball is not a career and I think that is the point some people are missing.

I completely understand, but you are forgetting the "Michael Jordan" stipulation. Nearly every contract for a player that signs an NBA contract has the addition of the education payment. Lebron James could have afforded to get a college degree from any college in the world, but it was the Cleveland Cavaliers that paid LBJ's tuitition for OSU!
The NBA teams now have tuition payment for any player who does not complete college. It is paid directly to the school and never goes to the player. This was implemented in MJ's contract in 83' and has been a staple of NBA contracts ever since.
Thus, a player who gets drafted and signs and NBA contract has their college paid for.

You need to bump it up just a little bit. No one has stated NCAA basketball is a career. You should be able to read that clear enough, if not let me know and I'll repeat it. I'm not a college basketball player and never had any interest in playing in the NBA, if I had the talent I would much rather get my Education in college then go to the NBA and add that extra pressure on me. You'd be surprised.

The subject is a potential NBA player and if you are advocating that the potential NBA star should turn down a fortune to get a degree, then that's fine with me.
Just don't attack me for believing that projected first round draft picks should take time to carefully consider the present worth of money before gambling a very lucrative career to get an education that will always be available to them. Three years of earnings for a highly regarded NBA player is a pretty high price to pay for a piece of paper.

Post 12 you quoted someone that you did not agree with on their comment. Is that clear enough.

Your quality of posts arn't exactly what I would call 'distinguished.' I'd work on myself before I even dare considering talking to others. Just FYI Hoot.

If a player is a lock for the lottery (aka guaranteed money), take it and do what Shaq, Kobe and others have done, go back and finish.
Agreed.
You guys see where Magic Johnson tweeted that he'd take Knight with the #1 overall pick.

Was he even considering of going pro? Needs to stay in school.

I hope all three come back but im not sure. I think it would be in their best interest too, like someone mentioned, i dont think there anywhere near ready for the NBA and it would be great to see this class with next years freshman, preseason number 1 if that happens?
In the NCAA you can have 13 players on scholarship. UK currently has 11 players on scholarship counting Kanter. These scholarships are one year renewable. Thus Polson will go back to a walk-on as he comitted as..Kanter is ineligble...Harellson is a senior so that makes UK having 8 players on scholarship..They have four incoming freshman..that makes 12 with 1 left over...

I think this happens as well.
Who has signed a letter of intent and what position are they?
Michael Gilchrist- SF
Marcus Teague- PG
Anthony Davis- PF
Kyle Wiltjer-PF
With those 4 signed, who would start?
Teague
Knight/Lamb/Liggins
Gilchrist/Miller
Wiltjer/Jones
Davis

I see Sullinger going #1

I don't see Lamb on any big boards. He will be back next season.

Bledso did not get listed until after the season. I hope you are right though.

I'd say Knight and TJ are gone.
1 - Teague
2 - Lamb (Knight if he stays)
3 - Gilchrist
4 - Miller
5 - Jones
Cal could run his dribble drive offense to perfection with that lineup.

I think I'd take Kyrie Irving.

Would Davis stick to his committment if he was not a starter? He is listed as a Top 5 recruit by everyone. I think rivals has him 2 or 3.

He'd have to earn playing time and he won't find out if he's going to start until they start practicing and by then it would be too late to back out. But I meant to put Davis starting at the 5, not Jones(I believe he is gone). Sorry about that.

I was talking about Miller and Jones splitting time and Davis starting at the 5. Jones is a small 6'8". He gets the rebounds but we saw a great example of how he struggles guarding the opponents 5. When he would get stuck guarding Zeller or Sullinger he would struggle. He just doesn't have the height or the power to do it.
Grant it, Davis has not played a minute of NCAA basketball but he is just taller (don't know about bigger because I haven't seen the weight numbers.)
I would hope that every recruit would be willing to ride the bench to help the team, and maybe it turns out to be a John Hood or Stacey Poole that just rides the pine and waits for their turn. Who knows.

Yeah, UK is not going to have a true center next year. I read that Wiltjer will probably make the transition to the 5, but I don't know if he'll start.

If Harrellson was able to irritate Sullinger as much as he did in their match-up then Sullinger would get shut down by a few of the NBA's guys. Sullinger, a great talent, needs to stick around and add a few more features to his game IMO, possibly a mid-range jump shot or more of a face-up game period.

I agree man.
I wouldnt takle Sullinger as the top pick and i wouldnmt take irvin either, to much left about his game we didnt see this year.
Im thinking Knight and Jones are gone so thats 3 players gone along with probably Kanter off of scholarship and we could always yank one from Polson or Hood if needed.
Next year i think you could have
1. Teague
2. Lamb/Liggins
3. Gilchrist
4. Miller
5.Davis/Wiltjer
