Shelby Valley 2011
Good luck to the new coach and to the Shelby Valley wildcats. I am going to watch the Pike County Bowl games and I will get to see SV play early in the season.
The poster is right. It was discussed about Newsome becoming the head coach in football. May not happen now but he was going to retire from teaching and only coach. He is eligible to retire and this was an option to keep him coaching with retirement pay. Problem is that when you retire you cannot work at a school in a position that can be normally be filled by a certified teacher for ninety days. You can lol at the person who made the post but his information is credible. If you remember Newsome was the first head coach at SV and his team posted an 8-3 record before being beaten by Evarts who had the states all time rusher Scotty Russell in the first round of the playoffs. That was when only two team from each district moved on to playoffs.
Well it sounds like if newsome wanted it, he could have it.
All i do is win Wrote:Well, unless something has changed with Stepp's coaching, I dont see Shelby Valley going anywhere this year. Way to go forrest dale, you have just made the worst mistake in Valley football history.

Lucas Fields and mason johnson will be the studs on the team this year or should be. Fields didn't see very much action last season due to a fractured foot. He should be dynamite this year.

Stepp was 1-9 at his last school. How could you pick him over carter? This is why Shelby Valley will always be a basketball school.

Let me see if I can grasp all the knowledge you have Mr. Win:

Yes you are correct Stepp did go 1-9 at his last job against some very good teams with a very young team. Carter went 0-20, but yet Stepp has 12 years head coaching experience and has went 8-2 three times and went 7-3 and oh BTW took Berea to the playoffs and made them a winner. I believe that Berea and Jackson are both 1A. SOOO Carter is a much better choice than Stepp, PLEASE EXCUSE ME, if I disagree. If Carter is your friend I mean no disrespect, but I have coached against Stepp before and I believe that Shelby Valley made a great choice and Stepp will win there, why because he is in it for the long haul and he can develop teams into winners, like he has done at other programs. I have heard all the candidates that have been discussed and by far Stepp is better than all of them. I say give him a chance there and you will be pleased, the decision has been made so instead of second guessing the powers to be, get behind this coach and support him and the kids there. If you can't do that then get a life and quit bashing a guy who will work his butt off to make them into a winner. If you want to bash then apply for the job and show your skills, it was open to all comers to apply and they chose the best one.

As far as you saying Carter was a better choice than Stepp I have heard others say that on here. He may be a great coach but please do not compare records and expect to wint that battle, not even close, no one may be able to winin Jackson but hey he is the one that has his name on that program and it is what it is 0-20.

If they will hire anyone why did they not hire you I mean "all you do is win" Best of luck to you and the Wildcats this year and good luck Coach Stepp
Aaron Stepp is a good young coach and will do a fine job at Shelby Valley, however I do not see him sticking around beyond four years. He will leave due to all of the drama that seems to surround Valley football. When you see so many coaches bail out in quick secession, something is driving them out. If you don't support your coaches, the kids do not want to play and the coaches get sick of all the talk.
has anyone seen valley's schedule? that may help them out as apposed to the brutal schedule of last year.. whoever they play i wish them the best of luck!

Well, i believe you pleaded your case better than i did mine. So i can not argue with that. Your statistics and info shows it. I'll try to come round here, but for the poster above me, thats what i've been saying. If you don't win at Shelby Valley...don't expect to be there long.
Stepp is being annouced today.
Stepp has a record of 60-70.

He was 21-22 at Berea
He was 32-33 at Clay
He was 6-6 at Harisonn
He was 1-9 at Franklin

he wins 46% of the time.

There are other things to look at besides the win-loss record. Aaron took over each program in bad times and improved as he went. His stay at Harrison and Franklin would be the only negatives. He just didn't stay long enough to show real improvement at Franklin Co. He will do a good job if given the time and support. He will be a good fit at Valley imo.

Let's face it. Norman was fine at Valley until he pissed off a couple of parents that have come after him. Small town politics at work. He is also a fine coach.

Agree and believe the new coach will bring alot of what is needed to Valley football. This is only based on reputation and accomplishments.
Disagree...Norman never did fine. He was not a good coach from the beginning, there were more injuries on the football team than EVER, he kept the school and parent club in debt over their heads and not to mention other issues. He tends to blame parents but he is the one who caused the messes that led to him being relieved of his duties. Agree he did "****" off some parents but that normally happens when an adult mistreats a child and does irresponsible things. I would say the parents that know their child was slapped in the face during weight lifting would disagree with the fact that it was politics at all.
Everyone is willing to move on and let it be done with as long as he moves on. But I can assure you the MAJORITY is pleased that it is over and doesn't want him in the program or school at all. We are hopeful the new coach will not let him and his "opinions" tarnish the program and what could be a new start with greater things happening. Guess time will tell.

If he had slapped a kid he would not be teaching in that school right now. He also would not be hired at Pike Central. This is obviously not true. So you are mad that he spent money on the program. Now we know exactly who you are. Gobble gobble turkey neck.

Actually, i was in the weight room when this incident occurd. And i can back this up 100% . He did infact slap kids in the weight room. He also did put the team i debt which is why this football team never had a banquet untill 2 weeks ago. Which the touchdown club raised enough money for them to have one.

Being slapped and slapped in the face are two very different things. One might slap a kid on the back or on his helmet or shoulder pads. So if you were there and want give everyone your name on here then your accusations might carry more weight. Anybody can get on here and make up stuff under a variety of names acting as if they are more than one person. I also notice how you have already started putting down the new coach. So sad.

He was slapped in the face, how can you be slapped in the pads or helmet in a weight room? I will not give my name out to anyone. That defeats the purpose of this website. But you can PM me if you feel the need and then we will discuss names. Do you need anymore information than what is displayed above? It's obvious that he has not been very sucessfull in his coaching career.
Guess you just can't be believed; read this post. Yet you had to post more garbage after my post about the new coach... Gobbbbllle!!! Gobbbllleeee!!

Yes i posted, to make you look like you have no idea what you are talking about? Because it is apparent that you don't have one clue. Wow your a grown man and I'm just 16 but yet you still act like the immature one lol.

Wildcat FB Parent Wrote:This is my final input on the matter because it is the PAST. His position posted on the BOE website weeks before he met with the boys to say that he was going to "resign". He hasn't been allowed in the weight room in a few months. We all know there are times that the BOE will allow people to "resign" rather that terminating them. As far as continuing to teach. I personally don't think the reasons he was not considered for next season as coach had anything to do with teaching. He will of course finish his teaching year out at Valley but told the boys he would be going to PC. There are not a handful of kids that care that he is gone and those are younger boys. I think the boys will miss his son because he was a friend to most and hate that he is leaving. Cory Griffith or Mason Johnson either one could easily step into that position and do as well or better. Most likely will be Griffith from what is being said but no one knows until the new coach is on board. IMO it is officially the past and time to move on. The boys are conditioned well thanks to HAMPTON and ready for spring practice and more excited than they have been for a very long time. Several of the seniors met at the BOE the very evening Norman told them he was leaving in support of HAMPTON just to tell the super. what a great job he has done and that he deserves a chance. Best of luck to these boys...hoping the principal will make a better decision than the last hire and this team can achieve what they are capable of achieving. SUBJECT CLOSED for me -moving on and wishing Norman the best at PC.
Again. You obviously can't be believed or taken seriously. You don't wish Norman the best. You have a personal hate because of the Turkey neck situation. You said you were not commenting on Norman or last year anymore but the first time we give Norman a compliment you start making up more lies. Pathetic.

What a joke! You say you are 16. Oh well now we all believe that lol. I've been reading your idiotic posts. You are obviously just a jealous ADULT that wanted the job but didn't get it!

I'm not asking you to believe anything. I'm glad you've been reading my post, maybe you will learn a little bit on the subject of football. No I'm not jealous of anyone, i stated my opinion like everyone else on this thread. I'm not an adult, i have no reason to lie to anyone on here. I am 16 and i play for Shelby Valley. Believe what you want but your just making your self look bad in front of everyone on here getting proved wrong by a 16 year old.

Somehow you are implying that a 16 year old lacks the intelligence to participate in a heated debate? Yet you are able to do it. I guess you are just special. What a liar!!

I'm not special, i just have common since sir. How am I implying anything like that? I told you I was 16, & it really saddens me to see an adult such as yourself not be able to accept the fact that a teenager knows more about the sport and about Shelby Valley football than you do. I have no reason to lie to you lol. Are you just in complete denial of having mutual respect for a 16 year old who has superior knowladge of the game than you do?

Ok you got me. You are superior in your football knowledge. What shall I ever do?

He/She may be 16. You spell it common SENSE and KnowlEdge.

I say good luck to the new coach and the the wildcats. When Stepp was at Clay County his first year I watched North Laurel beat them badly. A few years into Stepp's tenure he beat North really badly and Clay's team was far superior to ours. The turn around was amazing.

He will do well there if he does what he did at Clay County and IF the parents give him time. Good luck to all involved.

I am 16, lol but there is no reason to correct my grammar. I mean he gets the point. I'm trying to get my point across also.
Stepp took over a 4A program at Clay County that had less than 20 players when he arrived and he made a consistent winner out of them. And anyone that can win at Berea has to be able to coach.
Stepp was introduced to the boys today. First impression was really good. SV is looking forward to an awesome season. The new coach seems to be very intelligent and has excellent goals in mind. Best of luck to the SV Wildcat Football Team. The boys are pumped to finally begin spring practice.

So sad. You still haven't figured it out. Read your own posts. If only I knew as much as you do about the sport of football. I am just not as knowledgeable lmao.
