geeez o mighty....Pitino is 50 times better than Tubby....and let me ask this question....everyone knows how good of a player Re**** is....how long would it take Tubby to ruin him if he was at UK?

There is a reason why Tubby was Rick's assistant . . . . .
It has a lot to do with who is the better coach.
Kentucky needs to clean house in all of their major sports (and the AD).

Wow , I actually agree with you on this one alfus.....
Tubby - Great mentor, father figure to the boys, good x's & o's man, well respected among his peers.
Pitino - Knows the game, and knows it well. I do fault Pitino for being somewhat arrogant, self absorbed and cocky, but the man can flat out coach.

Pinito can win with superstars as he won it all in 96 and runner-up in 97 and he also won with average talent (going to the elite eight in 92).
Tubby did win it all in 98 (with Pitino's team) and has not made it back to the final four since.
When Tubby goes up against a top notch coach (i.e. Roy Williams, Coach K, Coach Pitino etc.) he is usually outcoached not out played.
Tubby can work with guards and small fowards, some have gone on to (Prince, Bogans, Fitch) play at the next level which makes their recruitment easier.
Tubby has problems working with power forwards and centers. How many big men has Tubby recruited made it to the NBA?

I'll take Tubby....he has a lot more pressure on his sholders and holds up pretty well! :thumb:

One could argue Tubby was handed a national title. However, Roy Williams also was handed a gift wrapped national championship as well. Even though Roy and Tubby were playing someone elses "hand". They both took different approaches on how the "cards were played." Pitino played the "same hand" in 1997 and just missed the jackpot. Whos to say that he would played "his hand" as good as Tubby did in 1998. We can only speculate.
I think Tubby will win another national title before Pitino does.
Ive never thought Tubby was a problem at UK. Some of the players being recruited just hasn't made wise decisions and thier mistakes falls back on Tubby.

I lost some respect for Tubby when Fitch and someone else got into a fight a few years ago.. I think it was right after he took over the program..Tubby seems to be a nice guy, and the guy is a pretty good coach. But since he has taken over, i have seen a change in the discipline. One thing i have to say for Pitino is he kept the boys in line. I got to watch a UK practice a few years ago, while Pitino was coach, and it looked like a practice that i wouldn't want to go through.. After Pitino got through yelling at his players he came over to the practice guests, and apologized for the way his players were acting.. I just thought that was pretty neat..

Pitino hands down. Tubby may win another championship before Pitino does, but every player in the country from high school down knows about the tradition UK has. Not many out of the area knows that Louisville even has a ball team.

No brainer IMO, pitino!!
