Will Betsy Layne win the 15th Region?
#1
Will BL take the 15th this year or will coach Williams (Pikeville) finally get his first title as a head coach or will it possibly be ER? Let the debate begin!
#2
Either way I want 2 say this regardless congrats BL and good luck during their trip in the All A state tourny.
#3
Betsy Layne is a talented team. I don't know a WHOLE lot about them because I haven't seen them, but you have to think right now they are the front runner. Johnson Central has the talent, but I think chemistry and coaching seems to be an issue. Pikeville has also has talent but they seem to have an issue with choking the past few years. East Ridge is very unexperienced and that could hurt them, also since I think McClanahan is overrated I wouldn't pick ER. Belfry needs to find consistency in scoring and improve defensively. Pike Central has guards that can score at will.

I would expect the 15th to go to one of those teams. Who do I hope wins? Belfry. If I had to pick right now, give me a toss up between Betsy Layne/JC... hope I'm wrong! GO PIRATES!

betsy layne is a good team as they say up there but when the lights come on at the EXPO noone will ever know it could be a whole different ball team but we will see when we get to the EXPO
PROUD TO BE A BOBCAT!!!

I like BL chances, I think the 15th is somewhat wide open. I think its going to be either BL or JC going to Rupp but I mean there is teams like ER, Pikeville, Sheldon Clark and Belfry that could win on any given night. The 15th region tourney should be a fun one to watch.
#6
Mock bracket just for fun:

Betsy Layne
East Ridge

Pike Co Central
Paintsville

Pikeville
South Floyd

Johnson Central
Belfry
#7
I think BL has a good chance to win it, but a few other teams have a chance.
#8
I Like the mock bracket fairweatherman, well BL looks 2 be increasing their chances in my eyes with a first round win at the All A.
#9
Wow i'm surprised that they won the All A maybe I did hit this 1 on the head!
#10
To be brief...

yes
#11
JOHNSON CENTRAL GOLDEN EAGLES just handed east ridge a good spanking tonight, 62- 46, their looking good right here at tourney time. this region is wide open though, should be a good tourney!:Cheerlead:Thumbs:

This tournament truly is wide open. No team in the 15th is just a cut-above the rest like we have seen the past few years.

Favorites:

Betsy Layne's experience from last year's 15th region tournament and this year's All A State Championship should benefit them. I look for them to be the favorites.

Pikeville has some real firepower and are very dangerous, but also vulnerable to a bad game.

Johnson Central might have the most talent in the region but is also vulnerable to bad games.

Sleepers:

Belfry has been very inconsistent in their play but they have the talent to make a run.

Pike Central has the best player in the region IMO in Hobo McCoy. He can carry that team far if the circumstances are right.

South Floyd might be the most dangerous of this bunch because nobody is really talking about them. They have talent and could be heard from.

East Ridge has so many question marks on that team, one being a lack of size(aside from McClanahan) and athleticism. However, Camron Justice, as young as he is, is capable of putting together some big games and carrying the team for ER.
#13
Johnson Central played great ball tonight against East Ridge. They held the Warriors to 12 points in the 2nd half. Coach McKenzie has them playing hard!
#14
Still don't understand how J.C. is getting the most talent award. I will put Adkins / Martin up against Parker / Skaggs anyday, and the rest against the rest anytime. Betsy Layne has more talent than any team.
#15
south floyd is playing great,I see them sending some good teams home early on if thay keep it up. just ask pike centeral. go raiders!
#16
This week alone BL has beat East Ridge (at ER on senior nite) and Pikeville (at Pikeville on senior nite).. NO easy task .Roll on Bobcats.....good luck
#17
I think that Betsy Lane may be the favorites now, but Johnson Central and Pikeville are not too far behind!!

There is no team in the 15th that can match up with BL starting 5. The sixth man D. Hamilton (freshy) is the best in the 15th region. Ultimately its up to the Bobcats if they win out the rest of the games from here on out. IMO they shouldn't lose a game...good luck Jr. and the Bobcats...:1::popcorn:

:pleaseConfusedkaggs and parker are used primarily for scoring, wait for the defence from salyer, jk, gallagher, bratton, curtis, this may make ur allstars look not as good. salyer , jk, and bratton are arguably the top defenders in the region. remember when BL had us down at half by double digits, then the 2nd half the pressure arose, you only won by 4. also you had a home grown ref,Confusedhh: that after your star complained to him, didn't watch nothing but tate salyer and his stifling defence. gonna be differnt if we meet again.:dontthink however this region is wide open, can't even imagine you think you are a shoe in.

IMO the 15th is wide open, there are 4 or 5 teams that have a good shot at winning the region. It wouldn't surprise me that a couple of the so called favorites won't make it out of the district or come into the regional tourment as runners-up.

Good post. I think it is going to be extremely interesting just to see how the 15th region tourney stacks up.

The 15th is not a very strong region this year but someone has to win it regardless. Betsy Layne is he most likely choice.
#24
No one has said it was a Shoe in, Just trying to share with J.C. They have been the shoe in until the All A. Make free throws Betsy Layne, Dribble drive. Good Luck.

I agree, Bratton and JK are elite football players and atheltes and can punish anyone they are up against. Besty Lane has no on who can play defense like these two.

Another poster was questioning JC's talent. JC has not performed well at all this year and has had alot of drama. If they can put a stretch run togather they will glide through the 15th and make noise at Rupp. Bestsy Lane has a great team, but they do not have the speed and physical ability that JC has. I have seen them all play and JC has a group 10 points better than anyone in the 15th, but now is the time to show it.

Betsy Lane has a All A State title and plenty of talent. They have the best chemistry in the region and I will take what they have over JC's talent anyday. JC wont make it to Rupp without buying a ticket, simply because they will self destruct as they have all year.
#27
Now with the reg season completed. My pick to win the 15th is Johnson Central.
#28
I'm predicting Betsy Layne over Pikeville in the championship.
#29
Talent wise JC should have run away with this region. But always have problems. Pikeville picked early as 7th or 8th but have played well this year. Very important for Branham to make some 3's. Betsy Layne has already shown they can win, and have a well balanced team. Several others can win a game or two, but I don't believe the whole thing. Those include Belfry, East Ridge, South FLoyd, and Pike Ct. Just thoughts, been wrong several times before. Should be a great regional though whoever gets there.

BL has the best chance to win it all!!!!!!!!!! Hobo who? they have got it all with NATHAN MARTIN dude do i have to say anything else
