I can assure you this benchwarmer in 4 years before Lamar leaves USC will be playing in a BCS bowl and well UK will be well UK, struggling to make it to the Banjo bowl or getting beat down by a team that doesn't even have a head coach.

Congrats to the kid! If the kid has desires to one day play in the NFL, then you can't fault him one bit for picking USC... I'm guessing they have one of the very best track records of getting guys into the NFL here lately.

As for the comments blaming him for choosing USC over UK... would anyone here blame a kid for choosing to go to Harvard or Yale over UK or UL if his dream is to become a first-rate scientist? Then how can a kid be blamed for picking USC over UK if his dream is to play in the NFL????

Finally, Mr. Dawson's accomplishments, and indeed the recent successes of several Boyle County players in going on to sign with major D-I schools, goes a long way to show how great the Boyle County football program is.

Those are Lane Kiffin questions not USC questions and worst case scenario is it affects how he is able to recruit a la Kelvin Sampson. As long as his nose is clean at USC, which is being watched like a hawk by the NCAA, then he should be fine. If Kiffin is fired or USC gets sanctioned again then Lamar will be free to transfer to Oregon without sitting out a year.

Tee Martin was the leading candidate to be the Alabama WR Coach until UK got wise and gave him a better contract. He landded over half of this current class including Faulkner, UK's lone All-American.

Sweet Tea-they left out he was also selected the top linebacker at the invite only Nike Camp at Ohio State last summer. And also during the week of practice at the US Army All Star Gamehe was selected as one of the top 3 linebackers from both teams and good enough to start and play over 80% of the snaps on dense had 2 tackles and a forced fumble on a play that was unassisted in open field. Obviously he has performed well enough amongst elite talent that people who know football(D-1 football especially) a lot better than John Dudley Hilton all seem to think that he was one of the top 50 overall recruits in the nation and one of the top linebackers in the nation. I guess it's a good thing Hilton isn't on UK's staff.

If they couldn't read the writing on the wall then UK is in serious trouble then. From what I gathered they knew they had a slim chance to land him. When you schedule an in house visit and he shows up an hour late and then proceeds to send text messages throughout the whole visit should probably be one sign that you have a slim chance. Maybe they should over recruit instead of sticking all of their eggs in one basket.

Really? Have you seen him play or are you judging him solely on what Hilton supposedly said? I'm not sure what more he could have done the last 3 yrs. Who impressed you then if he didn't?

College Sports analyst Tom Lemming had Boyle County linebacker Lamar Dawson ranked as the state’s top player for several years.

But Lemming found out something more about the newest Southern California signee last month at the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio.

"I knew he was good, but he showed me he was probably even better than I ever thought he was," Lemming said. "He held his own against all the stars."

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Dawson picked USC over Kentucky, Tennessee, Oregon and Central Florida. He’s considered the top prospect in the state by all the scouting services nationally except for ESPN.com.

"I loved him on both sides of the ball," Lemming said. "He’s the best player in Kentucky."

Dawson joined the Trojans, who had one of the top five recruiting classes in the country.

BTW, he's played with several other elite players. It's called the All-American Bowl and the Nike Camp at Ohio State, not the Border Bowl. :biggrin:

I was actually working on that, Hatz, but you beat me to it.
He also had 2 carries and 2 receptions in '09 and 7 carries/2 receptions in '10.
I have serious doubts Hilton even said that.
