They have a new district this year.

Rowan co
Johnson central
Boyd co

Ashland will have no troubles with Greenup or Boyd, I don't see them beating JC, and the game against Rowan will be good, but I see Ashland pulling it out.

I can see the tomcats going 8-2 with A lot of returning starters back this year.
#8
The Tomcats of 2011 will be a Senior laden team on both sides of the ball. Also with the Bye week coming at the end of the schedule, will hopefully prepare them for week one of the playoffs. However, the Northern Kentucky teams will be looming.
#9
Ashland has a good schedule that will help prepare them for the post season. Playing Raceland, Ironton, George Washington and JC at home will help, but I can see them going 6-4 or 7-3.
#10
I see the Tomcats finishing 3rd in the district behind JC and Rowan
#11
Rowan and JC will both be very strong next year.
#12
tough schedule maybe 5-5 and coould also be a little better.

Wishful thinking? Ashland returns allmost all their skill players and by far the most of them will be seniors and 3 year starters. QB is a four year starter, and should be even more accurate next year, hopefully.

Defensively 8 seniors return and at least 6 started last year for the whole year and the rest started some of the time. Returning juniors are no slouches either with one all area player and another starter.

You might be right tho. What I like about it is Johnson Central and Ironton play at Putnam next year, you gotta like Ashland's chances to win at least one of those two barring injuries. Rowan loses Cross this year too, not to say that they'll be weak but that's a big loss.

Things don't look that dismal to me, what are the five teams you see beating Ashland?

Rowan is losing Cross but they still have Wing which the best QB in NE KY hands down. They also will show case 285lb TB this year to go with Williamson at FB who ran for near a 1,000yds last season. I personally cant wait for the Rowan-Ashland game. Wish it was a Putnam this year..

Rowan is having a run of of very good talent these days, basketball aint too shabby either.
#16
I still dont think Rowan will be Ashland this year.
#17
I agree They have a lot of talent back and the coming up JR class is very good.
#18
It will be a tough game at Rowan but Cross will a big hole to fill for the Vikings. Ashland will probably take RC game but as far as the JC game hopefully they can just keep it close.

All these guys picking JC to win the Ashland game like the cats don't have a chance.

JC lost a bunch of talent and experience this year. Hall at qb will hurt a lot more than most are wanting to admit, Ouslely at fb and lb is big, Bratton, Salyer and Parker are very good skill players that went both ways. The linemen they lost are big experienced and good. About a dozen players in total. I'm not saying JC won't be any good but, you just don't lose that many starters that go both ways and not miss a beat the next year. Those backs for JC coming out of the backfield really had their blocking techniques down to a science, they really knew how to seal off the LBs allowing JJ to make a lot of those cut back runs. I thought they had a rare combination of talent in this senior group to say the least.

Last year's game was closer than the score would otherwise indicate. Ashland had the ball at the 45 when they threw the int right before the half (they had major momentum and the a score would have given Ashland the lead). Not to mention the fact that with seconds ticking down (about 9) and the game well in hand with Ashland's defense thinking JC might take a knee they sent Jude around the end for the TD.

Not complaining, just saying, Ashland has been competitive the past two meetings. Anything can and does happen but, I think Ashland will show and manage to keep it close.

Lawrence County will be a hostile environment and they will be very physical and tough to beat, Raceland is also a team that Ashland struggles with when they have inexperienced O-line as they will this year. GW is tough, Ironton is tough no matter where you play them, Rowan County is simply reloading, and the future looks bright for them. They won't roll over and play dead for the Tomcats. Johnson Central is also a very big hurdle. You couple that with there's always surprises in district, and Ashland could end up even worse than 5-5. Maybe not. I guess that's why they play the games.
