Pikeville 73 Pike Central 59
#1
Good win for the Panthers in a heated rivalry game on the road. Still didn't play crazy well. But it's a win. Gotta keep getting better. Layne Cecil and Will Branham stepped up tonight. Good Job guys. Great atmosphere for High School basketball. The game was not officiated very well. Too many fouls called to get in rhythm. Panthers are now 14-5, will play East Ridge Tuesday @ Home at TW Oliver Memorial Gymnasium.

HAIL PIKEVILLE!

Can't wait! It makes these games so much better. The past week has been awesome. It makes me so proud to wear the maroon and white and be a Panther alum. I wish it was like this when I was there. It's no secret that I am a huge baseball fan, but there is something special about TW Oliver when it is as electric as it was the other night. Baseball will be here soon enough, the next month is gonna be all about the Panthers on the hardwood. HAIL PIKEVILLE!

I was in attendence at the game, it was my first high school basketball game in a very long time actually.

I gotta hand it to the Pikeville pep section, you guy's brought it haha.

And wow, Hobo McCoy is exciting to watch he's a game changer for sure.

Pikeville would be up by like 12 and then all the sudden it'd be down to like a 2 point game, just like that.

But Pikeville is a good team, shot the ball very well.

Good Win Pikeville Wink

Wow looks like Coach Williams might finally reach the top of the 15th region this year after his 5-6 years as head coach at Pikeville.

Congrats to the Panthers! They are winning the games that they should be. I think that the Valley game the other night was a little bit of a lack of focus but they responded well last night. I think that they will be finishing strong for the last month.

The Panthers need to keep their focus. Wins over three rivals in a week is great but there are many important games left on the schedule.

Pikeville is the strongest team in the county this year.

congrats to Pikeville

Good win for Pikeville Watched a few games this year and Pikeville is a top 5 team in the Region. What if Hobo would have been satisfied at Pikeville and stayed. They would have been the top team in the region hands down.

If Hobo would have stayed Pikevilles shooting would be awesome even though they are doing a pretty good job as of now on the perimeter. They would definitely be one of the top teams in the region!
Hobo is the REAL deal, i didnt know he was as good as he was until I got to watch this game.
He is really the only scoring that Central has.
What happened to Cody Luster, I know he was on the team last year and was a good scoring threat but I havent seen him or heard of him playing this year?

Cody Luster, along with Cody Coleman & Channing Smith quit due to issues w/ the new coach... that's pure speculation and what I was told... can anyone confirm?

I hate to hear that because Luster could shoot really good while he was playing. The kids quitting the team because of the coach is terrible, I hate to hear this at any school!

there's no doubt he would have made a difference. However, he's doing great where he's at. Wish him all the luck in the world. The kid's got a natural gift fot the sport. Thanks for your concern fred.

Don't rely on speculation and hearsay this is how rumors get started. Confirmed, they are not playing.

Thanks oldtimer3 but does anyone know the reason that they are not playing?
I am just curious.

Channing didn't play so he could focus on playing football on the college level next year. Luster and Coleman quit, Luster quit because of pt or something( not 100% sure) and Coleman I am not too sure why he did.

Yes, the atmosphere was great....Pikeville's student section is simply the best around....and yes, Hobo McCoy is just fun to watch....He brought PC back within four all on his own in the second half...He scored 39 and shot the lights out... Will Branham and Layne Cecil had big nights for Pikeville... A great game to watch...Pikeville is clicking right now and could be the team to beat in the region!!

If you haven't had the chance to watch Hobo play, I'd definitely take the time to go see him....

Note to all the kidies out there. Hobo is what he is because he loves ball and plays all the time. When everyone else is playing video games, hunting, fishing, and chasing girlfriends in the off season HOBO is a the YMCA playing pick up games. There is no substitute for experience and talent, god blessed him with alot of talent but he chose to keep himself in the experience. So kids, play as much ball as you can, on the playground, in PE, on the dirt court up the holler, whatever.. go play.. B button X button hold right trigger on the xbox doesnt count for real basketball experience!!
