I don't think there is anyway that Darius declares for the draft, and if he does I'll crawl to Lexington and eat John Calipari's gucci shoes. The only players that I don't expect to see next year, minus the seniors, are Jones and Kanter(I still consider him a Wildcat. He fought as hard as he possibly could to be here, to me that counts for something). Jones has really responded to Calipari's benching with a big explosion on the offensive end, however that could be a byproduct of two very bad looking teams. There isn't any reason for Kanter to stay. He'll never get to play, and I highly doubt he has any intentions on continuing to be an undergrad assistant.
I don't look for Knight to leave. I know education is very important to he and his family, and he will be able to graduate next year. That doesn't mean he won't bolt though and try to get his degree in the summer after the NBA season is over. I look/hope that he goes the Patterson route, by continuing to play while at the same time getting his degree, then he can enjoy a long NBA career.

You pair an extremely unselfish Knight who is playing away from his natural position, with a Marquis Teague who is equally unselfish, while moving Knight back to his natural spot. That sounds like more than enough to cause a few grey hairs for opposing coaches.
Knight didn't play the point in high school btw. He's been good playing pg this year, but he's a natural 2.

I'm telling you all, mark my words. Knight will stay the PG next year, I don't care if he played it in highschool, he owns that position right now. Darius will leave, I don't know why you all are acting like its the end of the season and he needs to work on his draft stock more, he has PLENTY of time to improve that. Facts are facts, if he stays, there's a good chance he won't get close to the amount of minutes he's getting now, and a slight chance he won't even start. Where's Gilchrist going to start if Darius stays? Definitely not the 2 or 4.
Lamb isn't going anywhere. I don't even know why his name is being mentioned.

Then will you please tell me where Liggins and Gilchrist will go? The 3 and 4 maybe? That'll mean Darius won't even start. That's one of the reasons I think he'll declare, because if said case happens, he won't get to play. I also think he'll be much improved by the end of the season.

What about Liggins then? If Miller goes because of PT, will Liggins as well?
01-18-2011, 07:36 PM
You know Liggins will start no matter who we get next year. He's the best defensive player in the country. If he isn't this year, he's in the top 3, and he definitely will be next year. Liggins doesn't need to worry about playing time. He's the heart and defensive leader of this team.

Miller is not NBA ready. He has all the potential in the world, but until he shows some of it he has no chance of getting drafted. He'll be back in Lexington next season!

I could see Miller having Bobby Perry syndrome. Just be average for a while, have everyone asking why you don't play better and then just go off for 2 or 3 games, lol.

Well, after watching Vargas in the early stages of the Bama game, I beleive he declares for the Draft next year - the Military draft that is. I hate talking badly about young men, but I am just completely dumbfounded at WHAT this coaching staff saw in his skill that made them ever think he could ever play. Did they even see him? He has NO skill set, horrible footwork, slow, can't jump, no offensive moves at all, can't pass, terrible rebounding position, too light to ever box out anyone, but other than that he does great!

I totally agree. Vargas will not be at UK next year. He is a Mac/C-USA player at best.

I don't know that he could play in the MAC, he truly has no skill level whatsoever
01-18-2011, 11:32 PM
That's true. Do you think there is any chance he is back at UK next year? I don't see how Calipari could bring hime back. My choice would be to tell him he has zero chance of playing next year with the new recruits and he would be better off taking his talent, or lack there of, and go somewhere else!

Not a chance. If Calipari could cut ties right now, actually if Calipari could have cur ties with him after his horrendous play in the 3 minute stretch he was in the game tonight, he would be gone.

I agree with ya on my subjects vundy but this is one imo your wrong on.
Lets look at some facts. Miller has only had back to back games where he scored double digits points one or two times while at UK. He's a JR right now and is averaging around 10 points and 5 rebounds a game. NBA scouts aren't on the edge of there sit with those less than stellar stats. When Gilchrist comes in next year, he's starting, no doubt about it. If one year of college wasn't mandatory for him he'd go pro. Now if Darius can't start for a college team how does he have any hope of ever playing in the NBA. I doubt Miller will ever play in the NBA. Knight has played well at the point this year, but he's a better spot up shooter and slasher than true PG. With Teague(true pg) at the point next year, Knights stats will only get better, that is if he comes back.

There's a very good chance Darius won't start next year, the guys coming in are just simply better than him.
1 Teague
2 Knight(assuming he stays)
3 Gilchrist
4 Davis
5 Wiltjer
IMO that will be the best starting 5 in the nation. Not to mention Miller and Lamb coming of the bench, assuming Lamb stays.

He needs to leave and free up a scholarship. He can't contribute at the D-1 level.

TJ, Knight, Kanter, and Lamb are gone.
Cal has told Darius if he doesn't get more mentally tough, he can forget getting paid to play.
1-Teague
2-Liggins
3-Gilchrist
4-Miller
5-Davis
Wiltjer
Hood
Poole
Daniels
Beckham
Vargas
Polson

Sorry guys, Vargas will be a Cat next year. He will be a senior and I just don't see him leaving. We need his size. Let's remember Harrellson wasn't even really a part of last years team. What a difference a complete year makes in Cal's system.
01-19-2011, 06:03 PM
Lamb is not gone. I would say Knight is 50/50 on coming back or going pro. Much of that will probably be decided over the rest of the season. I also think if Calipari thinks he can get a big man in to take Vargas' place then he will send him packing. And once again, Miller is not NBA ready and he probably never will be.
01-20-2011, 02:45 PM
The only player on this team even remotely ready to declare is Jones, and he really needs another year of seasoning. If everyone does decide to come back playing time won't be that difficult.
Knight @ 1
Lamb @ 2
Gilchrist @ 3
Jones @ 4
Davis @ 5
You could easily have a second team in Teague, Miller, Liggins, Hood and Wiltjer, or any combination you would want with speed or with a couple bigs lfor a high low. Possibilities are endless.
By the way Miller wouldn't even get drafted if he declared, the boy has a lot of work yet to do.
