Letcher Central wins this one in overtime at Leslie County in a rare Sunday afternoon game. This was the first complete game for the Lady Cougars since they're leading scorer, Kelah Eldridge went down with a season ending ACL injury.

Very physical game. LCC learned a great deal about their team today. Leslie county played with great deal of passion. Neither team shot the ball well. Leslie will have something to say in the 14th region. LCC must continue to fill the void of their leading scorer going down. Leslie must find some inside scoring. Good afternoon of basketball.

From what I've seen from this team(Letcher County Lady Cougars),there is not enough balls to go around--won't go past the weak district that they are in and probably will even get beat in that championship by Knott county central because they are too selfish when it comes to passing......

Surprising this was physical game, the game Leslie played the night before against Knott, the refs called a lot of "touch fouls".

Don't know who you are and don't care mountain goat but I have never seen a selfish LCC girls team. I have seen ones that were not strong enough or physically tough enough for my taste but never selfish. As far as a weak district, since the new 53rd District was established in 05-06, they have had a team in the regional finals 4 times with LCC winning in 2006. Every year posters get on here and pick Knott Central to win the district and every year with the exception of one, Letcher Central wins the district. Back to the weak district. Jenkins could probably win the 55th and 56th this year and June Buchanan could win the 55th.

Weak district...no district compares to the 53rd in the past. 4 legit teams this year...2 from 54th and 2 from the 53rd. Breathitt Co of the 55th has dominated lately, but thanks to PCC their string is over. Unselfish to a fault. I keep stats for them I will send you a copy.

If you want the whole history of the 53rd District here it is. Since the return of girls basketball in 1974-1975, the 53rd has produced twelve 14th region champions(fifteen, if you include Knott Central's before realignment) and eleven regional runner-ups(even more if you include Knott's old regional runner-ups).

not a lot of foul shots in the Knott/Leslie game, but 1 Leslie player shot alot of freethrows.
