I have to write a paper about the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
This is my prompt:
Some people are saying that the Tower is unsafe and should be straightened, but then it would lose its charm. Others are saying the Tower should be left alone, but it will eventually fall if something isn't done.
Which is it??
I am torn between the two. In a way I think that the tower should be left alone because it is famous for leaning. BUT the other part of me says that it should be straightened because it will fall. I have the research that proves this. In my opinion, tourists would still go and see the Leaning Tower even after it was corrected and no longer leaning...Think about it, you could see it standing straight for the first time since it has been built. People would go just to say that they saw it standing straight AND people would make plans and go before it was fixed just so they could be some of the last few to see it leaning...Does that make sense?
Please tell me what you think. Should the tower be straightened or not?

Leaving it leaning, they can reinforce it surely with today's architectural technology.
It shouldn't fall, and it won't lose it's charm.

The tower currently leans at 5.6 degrees. Another 1.4 degrees will be enough to bring the 14,000 tons of white marble crashing to the ground. The structure could last another 75 to 100 years IF the soil holds up.
They are saying that steel "suspenders" should brace it while a girdle of steel anchors is built around the foundation and that this process will pull the tower 2 centimeters back from its lean....who knows?

I think that's what they should do to it...
either that or just push it back a little some other way so it still leans but is gonna be safe for another 1000 years or so...
that way its still the leaning tower of piza but it's not unsafe for anyone in it
