Sixers Fans

I'm just trying to see who else is on this board that is a Sixers fan. You are a true fan if you are for a team that is 13-21. This month should be a better month for the Sixers. They just had an eight game road trip against some tough teams.

I'm not a Sixers fan now, but when growing up in the 80's, the Sixers was my favorite team.

My all-time favorite player was Dr. J.

I can remember that line-up in my sleep with Dr. J, "Chocolate Thunder" Daryl Dawkins, Andrew Toney, Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones, Steve Mix, Billy Cunningham.

Don't forget Moses Malone!

Ahhhh how about this? A thread about the Sixers....and I DIDNT START IT! Awesome! Yep, Ive been a tried and true Sixers fan my whole life. When I was a little kid, I would shoot hoops outside, pretending I was Mo Cheeks or Dr J. I loved those teams. LOVED THEM. I loved numbers 6 and 10 though. Doc J and Cheeks were my favorite players. Who could forget '83? Sweeping the Lakers, the year after the Lakers beat them in the Finals, winning 65 games! Another one of my favorite players ever was Bobby Jones. He was a huge part of those old Sixer teams, won the '83 Sixth man of the year, and was on the '72 Silver medal Olympic team that got robbed of the gold. Jones was a better person off the court than on it. Charles Barkley once famously said, "If everybody in the world was like Bobby Jones, the world wouldnt have any problems"..ahhh good ol Sixer memories Big Grin

I agree, but it was Moses who was brought in and sent Chocolate Thunder packing:redboxer:

But, without Moses, Philly would have no title.

I think the era of AI is when I no longer cared about the Sixers. Not a hater of AI, but just was never a lover either. Can't take anything away from his game, and have to give him respect, but I guess I grew up with the old-school guys, and AI represented the very beginnings of the Hip-Hop players. Now I am OK with those guys, just not AI.

I am not a Sixers fan but really love seeing Jodie Meeks excell.

I know the pain of being a fan of a team that is doing bad. My Sacramento just can't seem to get it right. It is SOOO frustrating to continue to get good players but just can never seem to get them to gel into a championship.

They have so much talent on that team but something is missing. Landry is a good player, I still believe that the Israeli-wonder can be a good player, they have one of the best defensive big-men in the game with Dalambert (still can't believe they took on his contract Sad ), Cousins is a baby but has proven to be a great NBA player and could be an All-Star if he could stay out of foul trouble. Tyreke Evans is an All-Star caliber player that needs to drive a lot more than he does. All that talent but can't seem to turn it into wins.

Couldn't make it work with Martin, now he is doing great things with the Rockets.
Couldn't get a title with Webber, Divac, Jackson, Bibby, etc... but I honestly believe they were the 2nd best NBA team for 4 or 5 years but could not get past Kobe and Shaq Sad

My biggest sadness as a sports fan was when Shaq went for a game winning dunk and Vlade Divac blocked him. Knocked the ball clean out to the 3-point land. I jumped up yelling "YES!" However, it went straight to "Big Shot Rob" Robert Horry sunk the 3 that broke this heart. Sad
