Nice to see two sheldon clark boys on there
#4
Congrats to all the players, and especially the ones from the Mountains.
#5
Good luck to the unfortunate sap for TN who will be asked to block Gilliam. Nobody in KY pulled off with any consitancy this year.

32 Tennessee players to
54 Kentucky players

What does this say about this game?

Congrats to Ryan Hahn of Highlands.

I wonder if the Tennessee kids are all "bowled out".

There have already been two all-star bowls played in the East Tennessee area since the end of November. One E/W game at Carson-Newman and a TN/VA game in Bristol.... I think there is also one TN/GA game that might have already been played as well.

Maybe that might be why the small roster for the TN players.

Congrats to Ryan Hahn of Highlands.

Actually, this is at the discretion of the Tenn. coaches and Tenn. people who are in control. I believe they allow up to 55 for each team and a committee in turn elects those players.
Theres a select few that select players from KY, mostly Whitley, and Williamsburg people, however, they really do try to choose the best players east of I-75, just look at the past rosters. And, theres never favoritism as there's only one Whitley player playing this year, and he undoubtedly deserves it.

In Tenn, its a little different. Obviously the committee for the bowl knows a lot more about about the KY players than the Tenn players so it is a helping situation. I can guarantee you that just as many Tenn. players are given the chance to play as Ky players. Not all accept, and not all want too because its not really big enough just yet to intrigue everybody.

IMHO, its seriously as fair as it could be. A lot of people dont know how much hard work and preparation it takes to get this thing going. These guys have worked there butt off to keep this thing going and doing everything they can to make it as great as it can be.

The ONLY downfall I have that needs to be changed IMO is the date. I would much rather see this game played in the spring than in January. I'm assuming this is because a lot of football kids play baseball, however, i dont think it would have that great of an impact.

I think the organizers do a tremendous job with this event and I want to see it continue. My thinking due to the numbers disparity is that maybe it isn't as attractive to players in Tennessee , hence the lack in numbers. Hope I'm wrong .

Congrats to all who where chosen especially the mountain boys. Surprised not to see in P'Burg boys on here. What about Trevor Stovall, Nathan Slone, & Alex Griffith??? Thought these guys would be selected.

i just have one question why no players from either laurel co. schools were even invited?

The head coach has to nominate their players.
#13
coach from south did nominate several dont know about north but im sure he did as well just curious to know why both teams have a few good ball players

I think you can only nominate 2. Maybe someone knows for sure.

I would like to say congratulations to Alex Abner of Pulaski County!!

But, I am shocked that the 5A passing leader, Zach Eastham did not make the roster!

Sometimes the players who are nominated choose not to play. The reasons are varied. Some because they are playing basketball, some because they have a scholarship(s) and do not want to risk injury, etc. So maybe some of the obvious missing players were nominated but chose not to play for one reason or another.

Yeah, I'd say basketball is a big reason why a lot of boys aren't playing for both Tennessee & Kentucky.

Why is Ft. Campbell involved in the game? I assumed by looking at the rosters this was more of an Eastern half of the state game. Ft. Campbell would actually be considered Western KY? Just curious.

If your post was in response to my post. Both Alex Abner and Zach Eastham are playing basketball for Pulaski County. To my knowledge they're both trying to find a college where they can play on the same team together. I guess I will have to see if I can get some insider information on this.

I wish i could say you were , but i honestly think thats the number one problem. KY players are obviously a lot more interested, but the parity must be decent, Tenn won last year lol.

It's everything east of I75

Maybe because they won like 3 games combined?
Cmon man, they do have some talented players at both schools but players like Vaughn got his stats because South literally had one play and that was a QB keeper to Vaughn.
I do think North would have got Rotundi had he not been hurt.
#27
Good to see Jordan Calton and Jesse Hensley representing the Black Bears!
#28
Thanks to those involved in getting this game together. I can imagine it is a ton of work to pull this off. Its great to see this game gain momentum and serve as a nice showcase for excellent football players in both states.

How many kids can a coach nominate? If he nominates only 2 kids from his program, are they guaranteed a spot?
#30
