Greenup County 2011
#1
What are your thoughts about the Musketeers in 2011?
#2
Awful. 1-3 wins.

After losing what, 19 seniors and not having enough reserves to field a JV or Freshman team that number may be generous.
#4
With the schedule Roger Newton is forcing the football team to play there will be zero wins
next year. Scheduling has always been left up to the coaches why now is Newton taking it over. This stinks like a ***** house at lowtide.
#5
What is the schedule? I look for Copley to build for the future. They had a good freshmen team.
#6
1st game will be Pike county central.
#7
They will be bad.

I look for Copley to build for the future too. His own. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't end up at Ballard with Jackson.

It might be for right now but it wont be for long. Copley is being forced to pick up Ironton Burg and Portsmouth.
#9
How will they fair with the teams in the new district?

Ashland-L
Boyd- W
J Central- L
Rowan- L

= 1-3
#11
Don't be so sure that they'll beat Boyd.
#12
Does anyone know the non district games for sure?
#13
Russell obviously they will play Fairview also. I heard
#14
I heard the will be playing Raceland.
#15
So out of that I get
District Games: Non-District Games:
Ashland Raceland
Boyd Co. Fairview
J Central Portsmouth
Rowan Co. Ironton
Burg

I know for sure the District games but the Non-District games are alittle out of are league. I hope they toughen up the basketball schedule like they did the football schedule. If this is true maybe 0-3wins from a team that graduated 18 seniors the year before.

Doubt Copley is being forced. He did the same thing to Pikeville's schedule before they got rid of him.

It'll be a long season in Lloyd. With a schedule like that it would take a good solid team to get 3 wins. It'll probley be one of the toughest in NEKY.

Daily Independent reporting this morning 1/04/11, that Copley resigned. Who will be the next coach?
#19
From what i have heard, Copley is the only one leaving of the current people. Mullins is interim coach and they will go through the complete posting and hiring process looking at inside and outside people.

Told you. The more things change the more they stay the same. GC is one big mess.

Except for the schedule, which was forced on the team from the Athletic Director, the program's structure is in good shape.

Copley, and most likely his Defensive Coordinator, Tim Champlin, will leave. Mullins will take over as Head Coach and his assistants will be the same group we have now. (Maybe a few new (old) faces added.

The systems and behind the scenes structure, along with loads of new equipment added to the program by Copley will remain. Things like; new helmuts, shoulder pads and other necessities. An entire new weight room with brand new equipment. He revitalized the boosters and established a precedent for sending the entire team to camp. He implemented a tutoring program for struggling athletes. Oh and we also have a brand new Field House and the field was just redone last year!!

I wish Coach Copley all the best with his future team. The GCHS program is on the right track and Mullins will add the consistency and longevity it needs.

I have different rumors on the schedule. Anyone know for sure what GC's schedule is next year??
#23
You left out the part where the state is taking over the school. There is very little talent comming back, and the different factions in the district still can't get together. The mote things change the more they stay the same.
#24
its going to be a tough couple years, but with the young guys coming up, they will be competitve in a few years, assuming they can hire a qualified coach with a long term plan
#25
Success in middle school doesn't always translate into success at the varsity level.

Your right it doesn't always but it does help. There was 29 freshman that showed up for weightlifting and that wasn't all of them. Some of the boys are still playing basketball. Their is alot of talent comming up through the ranks. We are a 4A school we haven't had the numbers on the team like we should.

I don't know of many coaches whose long term plan would be Greenup County.
#28
did coplye ever say where he was going? will he try to take the Lawrence County job??
#29
There were around 40 players at weights today on a snow day.

This is for middle and high school combined.

That's almost double the number of lifters on snow days from last year.

There were around 90 different middle and high school players there throughout this week. And it was a snowy week!
