MC should have had this game won... P-burg came into the game thinkin it was gonna be a push over and not taking things serious and MC showed them that they r a serious team this year.... Good game for both teams and congrats blackcats

Sorry U Know Not!!, I don't think they came in thinking MC was a push over, I think it's was partly 1st game butterflys, and trying to hard, and the agresive play MC has.
MC is so quick, and have a under rated team. They'll make some noise this year.

Sounds just like football season. Magoffin wins a game, they get hyped up saying they are gonna beat Prestonsburg, and once again P-burg prevails. Hmmm I see a trend starting here.
Congrats Cats!!!

Prestonsburg came into this game knowing that magoffin was a good team becasue they beat BL. They had some ist game jitters is the only reason that magoffin played them as close as they did. Prestonsburg is very talented and alot of people are goin got mistake them this year.

They could always schedule David or Piarist and get their confidence up though........Shelby Valley did......wait a minute Shelby Vallet got beat last night. Oh well you win some you lose some. Neither team can beat Allen Central. I amtelling you right now that the Rebels will win the district and possibly the regional tournament.
WOW your awful confident there now arent you. I cant wait til prestonsburg or some other team beats the tar out of the rebels butt.. I cant stand people who are soo sure of something. you are way to over confident and wait and see.. AC will lose to someone.

Prestonsburg played awful tonight and still came out with the win. This goes to show that once everything starts clicking for the Cats, they are going to be a very tough team to beat.
McGuire was very sick tonight, puking before the game and then at halftime. This kid is a real team player. He left it all on the floor tonight and played his heart out.
Leslie played good in the post and scored some key points and hand handled himself well.
Tyler Mullins and Jordan Hall came in off the bench and gave the Cats good backup. Tyler pulled down some key rebounds and had 4 or 5 blocked shots. Jordan came in and made Magoffin turn the ball over with a 5 second call and hit a few big shots.
Stephens, Barnett, and Herrick didn't play very well in this game but they don't need to get down because they are all good players.
I look for this team to be a force in the 58th district and the 15 region when things start clicking.
All the blackcat fans need to get out to allen central next tuesday and get that place rockin for them. They love playing good for their fans.

Congratulations Prestonsburg.

This was an interesting game. Both teams got into some foul trouble early on. I was quite impressed with Senior Cameron Jayne, and a few JV players that came off the bench. Magoffin travels to Lawrence County Monday night for their first district game.

"You Betcha" Wrote:I'm a Hornet fan through and through. I was at the game rooting for the Hornets with everything I had. Let me first say this: The refs called a good game. I disagreed with some of their calls, sure. But they did a good job. It is weak to blame losses on the refs. I've been watching games for years and I've only seen what might be considered as cheating by the officials once or twice. I've seen plenty of poor officiating, though. Last night's game was not one of those.
Let's get to the heart of the matter. The Hornets had the game in control. But the BlackCats fought back into it and took the lead. The Hornets got right back into the game with strong post play. Then they went away from the team concept. Not only did they stop feeding their best post player, they also stopped taking open shots from the outside. Instead, they tried to drive the lane into several defenders. That killed the Hornets.
The BlackCats deserve all kinds of credit for fighting themselves back into the game and staying with the team concept to maintain the lead when they got it. Their best player was relatively ineffective. He was basically shut down in the post. I think almost all his points came from the foul line (from good foul calls, too). But the team kept together and pulled out a hard fought victory.
Congratulations to P'Burg.
Keep your heads up Hornets! The things that caused you to lose this game are easily correctible. If you will lay down your desire for personal achievement and play as a team, you can beat ANYONE in the region. You really can!
Think about it. When was the last time that statement could truly be made about the Hornets? Right now is the time for you, as a team, to commit to each other. You need to commit to playing Coach West's game. Can you do that? If you can, you will be a very good basketball team right now!
Terrific Post! THANK YOU SO MUCH for being mature. It's nice to see someone on this site respecting both teams - regardless of whether your team won or lost. I think both teams were off last night, but neither will be for long. Watch out for both, they know what they have to do to get it done now.

As for P-burg I think they will be OK. Magoffin is still looking through the wrong side of a 2 sided mirror. Too many good teams in their district to make it to the regional tournament.

Yep. That's the way I see it. Both teams played well at times. But neither team played well overall. Prestonsburg played better and won the game. And I agree both teams will be much better than they showed last night.

well i was wrong on this one I picked Magoffin in this one....nice tough win for P-burg

first off both teams played a sloppy game, the hornets got into foul trouble all game, although i was really impressed by the way magoffins sophmore tyler hunley took care of michael stephens, he is suppose to be one of the best in the 15th, but i cant see that by the way he played, but back to the game both teams played bad, there at the end, the hornets took very poor shots, and iam like you betcha, if the hornets would buckle down, and play as a TEAM they will win many games
congrats p-burg, and hornets keep ur heads up

Michael was very nervous for this game, because he knew he AND his team had to prove theirselves. All the Cats were nervous for this one and on top of that Nick McGuire was sick, but he still had an awesome game.
I understand that Mike didn't play a good game last night, but in no way did Tyler Hunley 'take care of him'!!

how u suppose to be one of the best in the 15th when u cant score against a team that is "suppose" to be one of the worst in the 15th , everyone says magoffin is jus a horrible team, which isnt true, but if stephens cant score against hunley and the hornets, he sure wont be able to do nothin with greater teams and better players in the 15th

Magoffin isn't a terrible team. If they were, they wouldn't have beaten Betsy Layne. Magoffin wasn't over-looked by the Cats. Many players on the team and even Coach Crisp was at the Magoffin vs. BL game. They knew this wasn't going to be easy. And that's why they were nervous, because for a long time, Magoffin wasn't a team they ever had to worry about.
Like I already said, the whole team had an off night and Michael was extremely nervous before the game. BASKETBALL ISN'T JUST ABOUT OFFENSE AND SCORING POINTS. ITS ABOUT DEFENSE TOO!! Yeah, there were tons of turn overs, but what matter is that P'burg came out with the win and Michael was a part of it. People wouldn't be saying Mike was a top 10 player if they didn't think he was. Everyone has their off nights, last night was one. The Cats Pause even ranked him in the top 10. And by his name it said - 'Quick, Explosive player that makes things happen.'
Do you see Tyler Hunley ranked in the top 10? Nope!
Now, I'm not saying Hunley is a bad player at all, but if through out the year he gets ranked in a top ten list, then we can talk about it then. But there is no use of singling out a player when it was a TEAM that played the game!!! Regardless of whether one or two players played scrappy! It is the TEAM that matters most.

Great job Cats.

Stephens isn't as well known for his ability to score, but for his defense and capability of driving to the basket and dishing.

Both of these looked terrible!!!!!!!!No type of offense but they did play hard.:ChairHit:

considering magoffins been a under achieved team in the past years and noone has paid attention to it, and what does rank matter? 1 or 100th if the 100th plays harder than the one they will accomplish something. and To go back on my post about the officals, i do agree with you.. I cant blame it on refs, but magoffin would get on a run, and soon as the momention came back to magoffin, they would get a foul sometimes, i mean , they should have been no calls, and i think the refs were about the same for both of them, i was just mad that night i posted. if magoffin would have kept their heads up after these fouls, and not took the bad shots. i think they might have pulled out with the win and my opinion is magoffin honestly i think can out play pburg , even tho pburg won . and its not cuz im a hornet fan . i didnt see as much talent as i see on magoffin.
