reason i ask is cause Shawnee forfeit there playoff game against North Oldham, the week before they forfeit against Bethlehem but played the rest of the regular season games

Who else has forfiet their playoff games besides Shawnee?

I believe Shawnee didn't have enough players to fill the team.
They possibly quit before the Bethlehem game.
Not for sure though.

Shawnee had to forfeit because they only had 9-10 players to show up to practice after the Central game.

11 of the 23 players listed on the roster were freshman, but they still managed to win two games. Might be time to reevaluate the need for the program to continue after this season.

According to the Courier-Journal, Shawnee's athletic director said that they would have a team next year. They are dropping from 3A to 2A and should have enough for a team.

Forfeits happen because of 6 classes of football, plus 3 and 4 team districts. Easy decision for a struggling school. Pay a $1,500 forfeit fee or pay out $2000-$3000 in traveling expenses for a three hour bus ride, two meals , bus mileage and driver to get beat by 60. This will continue to happen until realignment is corrected.

Exactly, I understand the financial aspect of it but i think you have to let the kids play. If they spent that much time and effort all season to actually make the playoffs then a coach or a AD steps in and say no were not going to play. That's not right. Even if you know your going to get beat with a running clock I think that you have to give the kids a chance especially the seniors. You never know what may happen.

You said 2 key things that you missed entirely.

1.) "to actually make the playoffs".
Ususally, that's not the case... they never "made" the playoffs... they were forced in. I see absolutely no eason for a 3 win or fewer team to make the playoffs.

2.) "I understand the financial aspect of it but i think you have to let the kids play"
This is a contradiction. Why should a 3-7 football team eat up $2000 of your budget when that could fund the entire season of travel for your volleyball AND baseball kids? You're not letting THEM play by doing that.

Bardstown's newspaper had an article on the Shawnee forfeit.

And so did the Louisville Courier-Journal:
