Pitching will be the best aspect for the 2011 Bulldogs. They will have one of the best staffs in recent memory for 15th region standards. They should be favorites in the region and district in any game with Shep on the Hill. However, against Paintsville it may be a battle of who can put up 2 if Jackson is throwing. Lawrence County will also, need to find a catcher, and improve some defensively against good teams. Offensively, they should be pretty good. Banks and Shep can flat out rake, and have shown so on many different levels.
Lawrence should have a great record because the depth of their pitching staff will give them a big advantage in games against lesser teams. I think it will come down to how the district shapes out, and who find the way to plate runs in games against Paintsville, Pikeville, and Johnson Central.

Clark Rice will be catching this year, very young but a good athlete.
I agree LC will have a strong pitching crew.. i also think hitting will be a good factor for LC as well, with alot of great hitters returning.
The district will be tough this year but i still see LC being favored.

clark rice a sohpmore getting vasity time since 8th grade split time and set behind timmy hayes and jordan miller.
rice is a great athlete and player.
he is a solid catcher and puts the ball in play from the plate,
look for rice to have big achievements in the years to come.
LC dominant pitching staff and big sticks.

W.I agree with your posts, however there is much more. I can tell that you did not see off season play. You shall however my friend. If everyone gets on the same page you will see many smiles coming from the DAWG faithful.

You have to remember that Salyers and those other young guys would have been playing Junior league if there was one as in years past. Last year was the first year they played on the big field. That extra 15' on the mound is a lot. It was very disappointing that over the summer those young guys only played 2 games. There were other teams they could have played for that had 20-25 games. Those players made tremendous strides by playing all those extra summer games. If the LC high school staff is going to run a youth league program with 7th and 8th graders and call them a freshman/JV team then they need to make sure they play in the summer. Just an FYI for anybody, because the is no Jr or Sr Little League program offered in Lawrence players can apply for a wavier to play in the closest league available. Ashland, Paintsville and Wayne County all offer these leagues. These leagues all played 25+ games last year with the Ashland and Wayne teams advancing past state championship levels.
