Cat Daddy Wrote:Easy "M" in one of your previous post you stated "Jude is one heck of a running back and possibly will go farther in football (college as Davenport.)"
So you think Davenport is a better back/athlete than Jude but you think Jude will go farther in his college career. This absolutely makes no sense to me. Since my statements are so "dumb" and "I can't back them up" please elaborate on the above statement you posted earlier. One would think the individual who would have a better college career would be the better player/athlete but what do I know. Both young men are no doubt two of the best running backs in the state and in no way am I trying to put Davenport down in anyway but I feel Jude is the superior back due to his "toughness"
Easy M "toughness" is my definitive reason why Jude is the best running back in the mountains.
You said most talented back. I'll argue that with you all day long.
As far as college goes, does Jude play defense as well? Davenport is a running back only. There's a difference. Not to stereotype these kids but there's not many mountain kids going big time in D1 for running the ball. Matter of fact, I can't remember one single player.
Davenport is a better runner than Jude. Flat out better.
Jude gets the nod as the best all around because of what all he does besides run the ball. Hope that clears it up.

Having only seen them on film and not in person:
I think these guys are completely interchangeable and if you substitued them on each other's teams their stats would be nearly identical to what they are now.
They have similar styles, frames, and "wiggle". The only variance between the two is Davenport is a step faster and can accelerate faster when he gets the corner. Jude is a bit more physical and does a better job shifting his weight when changing direction.
Davneport to me is a better kick returner and receiver then Jude, but if you tell me a defense is going to put 11 in the box and you need a HB to run the ball 30+ times, or you need to choose a back to pick up a 4th and 2, I would much rather take Jude.

easyM Wrote:Yes there is a way. And Davenport is faster.
Go ahead and throw running times in there which I'm sure you'll dismiss. It is what it is. Glad you know that they can't run that fast on the field. Just because you couldn't or someone else as well doesn't mean they can't.
And you running like a deer you didn't like because you ran a 4.5? I run like a ******* but I'll take a 4.5 any day. I'll take a 5.0 as far as that goes.lol
And maybe they are smaller than you but looking fast and being fast in this case is true. These two are legit....
What i am trying to say is: I ran a 4.5,(w/o pads) which is pretty **** fast, correct. But the way that i ran made it seem like i wasn't that fast..I have long legs and didn't look as if i was moving as quickly.
Yea ive seen them both play...They are d**n good & fast..I wasn't saying they werent..Also i don' think people relieze how fast a 4.3 and 4.4 fortys are when its with pads and on the field.(which does slow a player down)..I would have to admit i know both of these players are a legit 4.6..Big difference in a 4.6 and a 4.4 tho...Juss say'n...:eyeroll:

What colleges are looking at these great running backs?

Lets just put it this way. IF Dudley was a stats person Davenport would be leading the state in rushing. Against McCreary Central and Madison Southern, heck even Rock earlier in the year. The kid could have had 500 yards in each game easy.
Parts of me wished that next year Dudley would let the kid run all over everybody for 4 quarters to end this debate when both will be seniors next year.

I loved on Sports Overtime on Friday they showed Cory out run about 4 Harlan Co players including there fast RB McMillan for a 80 something yard TD.

For the ones that missed Sports Overtime this past Friday here it is. They show Davenport and talk about him a little bit. Also some people might not get to see Davenport up North or out West.

I don't know about either young man except for what I have seen on here. It's why this site is so vavluable, it helps bring attention to teams and players that those of us from around the state would not know much about.

Yes. I love this site! Segment #2 on that has Jude too. So you can watch both on the video I posted on here.

Find the best Defense that Davenport has ran against and he has scored on it. Probably more than once.
I saw Jude once last year and Davenport once last year. I saw Jude once this year and I hope to see Davenport once this year. I can't make an "informed" opinion unless I get the chance to see Davenport this year. Did Davenport score against Boyle County last year? I don't think he ran for over 100 yards on us but did he score? If he ran for 100 yards on Boyle last year I am quite sure he had a low ypc against us as did Jude last year. I can't remember and I can't find a box score on the game. So far this year, Jude is the best rb Boyle County has faced this year but that could definitely change if Boyle/Bell meet up this year.

Yes Cory D did score the only TD last year against you guys. I cant find any stats as well for Bell Co against you guys last year. Bell never did turn in the stats for that game to the KHSAA.
Maybe some of the other Bell fans might have access to that game for stats.

Thanks!! I know Boyle Co's D last year was amazing! Boyle Co only gave up 64 pts in 10 games last year. This year 142 pts.

Great point and so true. I've seen both several times and although they both deserve respect, Davenport wins this one hands down.

In my opinion, both players contribute to their teams tremendously! I do believe that if you take these two players off their respective squads, Bell Co and JC wouldnt be as good as they are. Dont get me wrong both players are great RB's and they have a bright future ahead of them. But if you take Davenport and put him in Coach Matney's offense and give him 25-30 carries a game, as Jude. In yardage, Davenport would probably have around the same or maybe even more than JJ.

davenport all the way...........go bobcats!!!!!!!!!!!

We played them both and got beat by them both. They are the only 2 backs that have had any real success against all year though the kid from Rock was a nice runner too.
Comparing these two and trying to say which is better is sort of like trying to choose between a new truck or a new camaro. Both would look great in the garage but do different things. Davenport is magical with his moves. He finds angles and makes cuts that are off the charts. JJ Jude is a walking muscles who breaks tackles like a black belt breaking boards. His speed is instant and he is a force on defense.
If I had to choose a pure RB to add to my team - Davenport is my choice. He is just the best I have ever seen in HS football. Still, Jude is likely to get just as much or maybe even more attention from colleges due to his size and stats. But stats don't tell the Davenport story. Wins and amazing runs do.

Most of the Boyle fans think Thomas of East is the best RB you have faced. And he is over 2000 , even though being pulled at the half in 3 games. Rematch in round 2 ?????

According to the youtube video of Corey, he's in the commonwealth diploma advanced studies that bell county offers and has a 3.9 GPA. He must be just as fast in the books as on the field. Now that's all around student athlete. That would be my choice.

High school back take your pick. College back JJ hands down. JJ's body is a freak of nature he will eventually be around 200 pounds. How many 165 pound running backs do you see at the next level? I've seen them play and Davenport is a little faster than JJ, but all this talk of 4.4 speed is ridiculous. Both are plenty fast but you are talking about NFL corner speed at 4.4. There are plenty good backs with 4.55 to 4.7 speed and theseare two of them.
Side note I think I heard someone say JJ had a 4.0 GPA.

Well tell the combines and WYMT that then about Cory's 4.43 speed. Cory will make it to college. Jude or Davenport neither one will be at the Div 1 so it doesnt matter.
