Boyle's ball control offense was the key to victory. 33 first downs and 484 yards of offense.
Defense needs work but without 4 starters tonight and with Bourbon up next week maybe we can get our D healthy.

Sounded like they had a great first half shutting the Colonels down but then in the 2nd Christian County adjusted and my guess is Boyle got a little gassed.
I really didn't expect to win this one with all the injuries but to have as large a lead as the Rebels did before it became a shootout speaks volumes for their team and staff.
Boyle is no 38-1 in the last 39 games. Pretty good.

Maybe even in round 2 if we meet up against East Jessamine again. Lord knows they win and play a lot better when I go hoarse to prove my support and love for this team. I'd hate to lose in round 2 because the boys couldn't hear me yelling for them.

They had absolutely no answer for our offense. We moved the ball how we wanted to when we wanted to.

Nah. Some fans are obnoxious and some fans cheer. Guess he was the obnoxious one tonight that wanted everyone to be like him. If ya gonna be like that, stay at home and keep your "horn" with ya! Go REBELS! That better?

I've read it numerous times and still don't understand what he is saying? Maybe tomorrow after I warm up it will become clearer to me, but I'm not counting on it.

Congrats Boyle, you all played a great game. Cox had a monster game, but who you really need to thank is the offensive linemen. The best way to negate the speed on Christian County's defense is to get on your blocks and stay on them until the whistle. That is exactly what they did and then Cox ran it right down our throats. Obviously, we are going to have to improve play on the defensive line and at the linebacker positions if we want to advance in the playoffs. The last two weeks are the first time all year that anyone has been able to stay on the blocks that long. Coincidence, best two teams we have played all year, but that is why they are on the schedule.
On a side note, our radio announcers did make reference to a few fans that were a little over the top for Boyle. LOL! Maybe it is the same guys that had the soccer horns. They said something about "now that is really supporting your team" and then laughed about it.

Has to be. That guy started screaming a little before halftime about the crowd and it's lack of noise. Honestly, it seemed like a regular sounding crowd to me, but as a previous poster said I guess he was mad because we didn't do what he wanted us to do. The games will get much louder as the games get more serious each Friday. We are probably one of the best traveling teams in the state. I really don't know what his problem was. Maybe a little too much 'get warm juice' before the game maybe?
It was a good game. I was very intrigued with how this game would play out. I am actually more comfortable heading into the playoffs after seeing us win handily. I look forward to following CC's success in the playoffs. Good luck to you guys.
I knew if we kept kicking to Tandy he would make us pay. I liked the idea of not kicking to him at all.

Congrats to the Rebels and Good Luck to the Colonels in the 5a playoffs. Great game O-line.
By the way Christian County had more fans at this game 4.5 hours away than they did at home last year. Just don't understand that.

I guess both teams need to be concerned with the D's heading into the playoffs after this shootout

Consider the source Rebel.
This is the "Jimmy the Greek" that had us losing 4 times in the season and twice to Lexington Catholic. :eyeroll:

Yes and no.
For Boyle the Rebels held the Colonels to only 1 First Down and about 34 yards of offense in the First Half. That helped them build a 28-7 lead.
It was after that half that CC adjusted and found ways to get their athletes in space. 2nd Half defense needed help but from all reports Boyle won't see these type of athletes again from anyone in 4A.
I forgot to add that when our injured starters return we will only be stronger and deeper on defense.
10-30-2010, 07:41 AM
I agree we wont see this kind of speed the rest of the year.they not only had speed they had several great atheletes.they are a very good a good football team.

Well, I guess Boyle Co laid the smack down on Christian Co. Congrats to them.

I don't like that idea at all!!! I think part of the reason he kept kicking to him was to see if you all could stop him (since you had the lead). In case you faced a good returner down the road and really needed to kick it away.

I was somewhat surprised that Boyle beat Christian as easliy as they did. I expected a 7-10 point game with Boyle coming out on top. Boyle showed some good sportsmanship at the end when they could have easily scored from one-foot out with a little over a minute to go. It sure looks like a Boyle-Bell matchup again. I just hope Boyle gets to the state again.
