I would like to change my earlier prediction since Belfry fans are already saying wait till the next 2 years. What happened to this years team that was talked about being so good 2 years ago.Must have lost a lot of good players. Enjoy the music and the food but the game you surely will not enjoy!!!!!

I would love to see JC develop a passing game for the playoffs. Love to see 100-200 yards passing, but I am not holding my breath. JC can move the ball in this game.

If Belfry wants to win this game then they have to force Johnson Central to put the ball in the hands of someone other than JJ Jude! If they can contain Jude then they have a chance to win! But, being successful in doing that is the hard part.
Johnson Central - 38
Belfry - 20

I agree, for I do not think JC will score 50 points, nor do I think JJ will run for 500 yards. But I do think JC will win by a couple touchdowns.
Good luck to both teams, and looking for a good, hard fought game with no injuries to either team.

JC should come out and run the ball effectively and win. If they do not, it will be close. Classic line um up and run game!
Actually, SC and Belfry play JC tough each year because most years they're close in ability. That's no cut on the Eagles as very few other teams in the area play at that level consistantly.
Coach Matney is ONE of best in EKY. However, he is not "THE" best.

Yeah, Central -will- have need of a passing game over the next few weeks as they see better teams in the 5A tourney. Trouble is...it's too late to develop a dependable one this late. They'll have to do it the way Belfry does - as a surprise call out of play-action (only works if the running game is clicking) and 3rd and long (doesn't work well for anyone).

I do not totally agree. I do think JC gets the best game out of both SC and Belfry due to the Mateny connection and the sucess of the Eagles. All are talented, but no other team has been as consisent recently as the Eagle and it takes talent to do this.
I can not think of any coach in our area that has done more than Matney has recently at JC. If another coach is better, lets here some names.

That's questionable and yet to be seen. We are talking smack now.
JC will "fly like an eagle."

gotta go with belfry

Im going to go out on limb here and ask, why no one things Belfry can stop Jude. Although JC came out with the win, SC stopped Jude especially in the 2nd half. I think Belfry and SC are good comparisons and are capable of stopping him. However I feel that JC will come out on top. 24-21

So...you seem to be implying Central habitually takes Belfry and Sheldon Clark lightly (and doesn't consistantly put forth its best game). Let's remember the Eagles are NOT that far removed from the years they wouldn't dream of scheduling teams like Belfry.
Coach Matney has done a great job putting the Central ducks in a row. It's been great for football locally for a larger school here to garner statewide respect. However, I would submit to you, he actually did more at Sheldon Clark than he has at Central. The Cardinal program had nothing before Coach built it from the ground up. In the same vein, John Chapman could conceivably accomplish more at Pike Central if he can maintain that school's progress over the next few years.
And for the record, I never claimed anyone was "better" than Coach Matney (NOT wanting to start that kind of fight - it's too subjective...lol). I do, however, think he should be included in the top tier of head coaches in EKY along with Haywood, Hilton, Holcomb, McGlone, Larkey, Mills, Derossett, and Dixon (please forgive any omission).

Mostly agree, but...
Belfry showed problems defensively coming off blocks off the corners in the SC game. And this happened in their wide split 5-2 (which is intended to help against the outside). If the Pirates don't tackle better vs. Central, Jude will light it up.

I guess what I was saying is I do not think these games are as important as they used too for JC since we are now playing the Boyle, Bells and Highlands. I do think they are much more important to SC and Belfry. it is like this, if we beat SC and Belfry the big 5A school was supposed to, if we lose or play close the schools are are better than us.
I remember the lean years and it has not been that long, but look where we are now. Alot of great coachs have come from the Mountains but Matney will rank with any of them when it is all said and done.

I smell another State Record for Central....

I do agree that JC probaby has more size than Belfry and granted, they DID beat us last year but how does that rank him with the likes of Haywood? Coach Haywood has 2 state championships, 3 state runner-ups, numerous regional championships and can't count the district championships yet your comparing what Matney has done at JC to that? Coach Haywood's 2nd and
3rd year at Belfry, we went to the state championships and came home with a 3A runner-up trophy both years. Coach Haywood has not had the first losing season since he has been at Belfry, which is, at my calculations about 26 years. Granted, Matney played at Belfry back before Coach Haywood took over at the helm, (Matney played for **** Roddy, who also took Belfry to state Championships while head coach) but to compare him at this point and time to the Haywoods, Howards, Holcombs, and Hilton that have been at this for the length of time they have, have the records, state titles, regional titles, and district titles, just isn't right. Give him a few more years at the drivers seat at JC and you are correct... He MAY just rank up there with this group of men!

Well put and exactly correct... Those 4, along with McGlone, must be considered the top tier.

You're correct if they can stop Jude.. But they wont.
The score will not be this close either,
