Well that's why I wouldn't say much on a rumor. It happens here every year. But we did lose one of our assistants to Middlesboro when he accepted the head coaching job....You never know either way. I'm sure every year many assistants hope to find a head coaching job...

I would be completely and totally shocked if he left. If I am not mistaken he declined an interview for the Boyle job because he wants to be an assistant. His daughter is a freshman, his son is a junior and his wife took over the cheerleaders this year. I would be shocked and sad if we lost Coach Hester.

Yeah it sounds like he has staked claim in Boyle County. Some guys would prefer to be an assistant as well. I can understand their reasoning as well.....

Not only that, he just loves coaching defense. He has done a great job, too. Don't think he'll even consider leaving any time soon. IMO

Question for the Boyle County fans: how old is Coach French and any idea on how long he will remain in coaching before he retires?
The reason I am asking is I've heard he's not a young guy and may be looking to retire in a couple of years. I've also heard from a BC fan on a different site that there's some talk Chuck Smith may be looking to return as the head coach at BC when French retires in the not-too-distant future. I have no idea whether there's any truth to this rumor or not, but I have heard it. Have any other people heard anything about Coach Smith possibly returning?

Coach French has been a head coach since the late 70's if that tells you anything.
As to the Chuck Smith rumor, I could see that if he were unhappy under Joker but his dream job always was at UK and that's where he's landed. :Thumbs:

I was told the same thing at work this week about chuck,but im not gonna get my hopes up.losing him to UK was like losing a family member.

I haven't heard that rumor but I know Larry French's son is a member of the coaching staff at Boyle County and Chuck Smith's son is the qb coach at the new school South Warren High School in Bowling Green. Food for thought.
Personally, as much as I would love to see Chuck Smith back at Boyle County whenever Larry French leaves, I'd much rather see him become the Defensive Coordinator for UK so he can fix that defense.

What do you consider a crone, Because I am younger than you think. I am guessing you are 20 or probably younger by your posts (which would make you think I am a crone). What program are you talking about that is up and coming in NKY, Ryle? I agree they have everything it takes to be a top contender year after year except maybe the head coach. And no it does not get Highlands fans panties in a wad when you start talking about them recruiting, it is old and makes the ones talking about it look very ignorant.

I here there is some talk of a HHS and Christian County game next year. What is the latest with that? It stinks having to drive that far to play a football game though, especially on yellow dogs!
