Bologna or Filet?
#1
I think it would be fun to introduce a Bluegrassrivals.com version of "Bologna or Filet" like on ESPN2's First Take.

I will introduce one player and one team everyday that I can be online, (which is most)

Today's installment is

Team- The Houston Texans
Player- Denver Broncos Receiver Brandon Lloyd

The rules are simple, you state whether the team is a contender or a pretender (bologna/filet) and/or if the player will continue to have a great season OR if the current stats are a mirage/abbohration (spelling)

Yeah, I seen this earlier today on first take.

Both are Bologna IMO.

I meant to post that The Texans are 4-2 and tied for first in their division and that Brandon Lloyd has 34 catches for 663 and 3 TD's.

I think that it is too soon to tell for the Texans. I do believe, however, that the better that the Colts do, then the better the Texans look.

I think with the return of their D-Lineman and the VERY soon return of the defending Defensive player of the year that their defense will improve. They have looked terrible without him and the lineman.

I believe that they can sneak a wildcard spot however.

TEN 11 115
BAL 5 135 2
NYJ 4 74

That line right there makes me think he is for real. He is not the BEST but he is going to finish top 10 in yards and has a good chance at a pro-bowl. If the Broncos continue to be a pass-heavy team, he will continue to put up numbers.

With that said, I would take 15 receivers over Lloyd right now. I think he is a product of a pass-happy offense.

Bologna for the Texans

Filet for Brandon Lloyd

The offensive line & the defensive secondary of the Texans are major issues for them...bologna.

Kyle Orton is getting it done in Denver right now...his number one target is Brandon Lloyd...he get Filet.

Good time to revisit this Big Grin

Congrats to J-Rod he called Brandon Lloyd, Filet.

I was 50% right when I said he will put up huge numbers and have a good chance on a Pro-Bowl. I was wrong in calling him a product of a pass-happy offense. I was just looking through his career stats and WHEN HEALTHY he has been good. This is certainly his breakout season but in 2004 and 2005 for the 49ers he had:

13 43 565 13.1 6TD
16 48 733 15.3 5TD

Those are pretty good numbers from a team that didn't pass much.

Here are his current numbers: 48 catches 968 yards and 6 TD's.

He has had 6 games of over 90 yards, 5 games over 100 yards and 3 games over 130 yards. Impressive.

Now onto my Texans Sad

They are 4-5 after losing a 3rd straight game. They are technically 12th out of 16 AFC teams. Obviously 3.5 games separates them from first place so, 12th doesn't mean much but last in their division does. This team needs help. They are not totally out of it but the defense has to play better and Matt Shaub MUST be consistent. Praise the Lord that I have Joe Flacco as my back-up Big Grin (Shaub actually gave me more points this week, but it was a relief to have 23 points from my Starting QB on a Thursday Big Grin )
