COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Sixteen touchdowns, 1,043 total yards of offense and 58 first downs later, Lindsey Wilson College emerged the victor against Pikeville (Ky.) College 59-52 in an offensive battle at Blue Raiders Stadium on Saturday.

The majority of the battle between the Blue Raiders and the Bears took place in the air as neither team had a rusher with more than 80 yards, but both had two receivers with over 100-yards receiving.

Victor Moulden finished with nine catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Matt Powers caught seven passes for a game-high 169 yards and two touchdowns to lead Lindsey Wilson.

Ricky Bowling completed 18-of-23 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns and Greg Young tossed eight completions in nine attempts for 109 yards. The Blue Raider quarterbacks combined to complete 26-of-32 passes on the day for 408 yards.

Trevor Hoskins completed 31-of-46 passes for Pikeville, amounting 400 yards through the air with four touchdowns. The Bears' Al Mayes rushed 15 times for a game-high 77 yards and three touchdowns.

Lindsey Wilson took its largest lead, 31-7, with 10:23 to play in the second quarter after a Bowling touchdown strike to Powers. From there the Bears kept chipping away at the lead until it was eventually a five-point game (38-33) with eight minutes on the clock in the third quarter.

Luckily for the Blue Raiders, every time they needed a score to keep comfortable distance from Pikeville, they found a way to score.

But while scoring came easy, it was an unlucky moment late in the fourth quarter that made the game a nail biter down the stretch.

Trailing 59-46 with under a minute to play, Hoskins marched the Bears offense down the field before throwing a deep touchdown to Thomas Weeks with 30 seconds to play. The two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, making the score 59-52.

The Bears successfully recovered the ensuing onside-kick attempt, gaining possession deep in Lindsey Wilson territory. After one pass for a first down, the next successful throw was short of the first down, allowing the remaining seconds to trickle off the clock.

After a quick spike by Hoskins, the officials declared he got the ball away in time for one final play with no time remaining on the clock.

Hoskins desperation heave landed around no one in the middle of the field, giving the Blue Raiders their first Mid-South Conference Eastern Division win.

The 111 combined points are the most in both program's history, while Lindsey Wilson's 59 points are the most in its short history after scoring a previous high of 44 against Southern Virginia University on Sept. 11.

The Blue Raiders improve to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the MSC East, while Pikeville remains winless at 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the MSC East.

Nope I wish it was the case but it seems that Pikeville is once again on the bad end of the story. I can not believe that this team may not get a win this year.
