Mild way to put it.

I took the Tomcats, but wow, I didn't expect this
#5
I'm glad I missed this beatdown
#6
OMG, never would have expected it to be this bad.

I said after the Belfry game... this is the most dangerous Tomcat offense I have seen in some years. Very balanced, very explosive, very diverse.
#8
Total beat down is right! All hail the Kitty Cats.

That offense is almost unstoppable. If you don't sustain drives and keep Ashland's offense off of the field it will get ugly. Very impressive.
#9
Fball,

With all due respect, Belfry **** in there with the Tomcats. Ashland was the better team, no doubt, but Belfry competed and **** tuff. Devil fans have to be resigned to a early exit this season.

Maybe next year Devils.
#10
You don't have to be resigned to anything. Just keep your heads up and get better. Russell could run the table in the regular season.

Way to go Tomcats!!!!!:ChairHit: More improvement this week most complete game yet. More kids getting involved, too many players to list great Job Tomcats!!!

NEXT..... Ironton, I think the spread offense we run will give ironton alot of trouble? Looking for 2 in a row on the tigers! Going to be a tall order at Tank stadium!:redboxer:

From what I've seen your kittys should run right past Ironton. The Tigers will have to play keep away to have a chance.

You better be 21 pts better then.

I don't.

They will probably be favored over every team remaining on the schedule except for Mason County. I didn't say they will but they could. They won't face another team as good as the last three they have played.
#16
good game for the cats tonight...what happened to the red devils besides not even showing up....i was expecting a closer game than this
#17
Ashland is undoubtedly good and I think they have a real shot at beating Ironton next week. The game will be very interesting because it is such a contract of styles, because of the revenge factor for Ironton, and because of it being at Ironton.

I hope this humiliation doesn't negatively impact Russell's psyche too badly. I thought I had seen the low point a couple of year's ago when Russell was taking knees late in the game against Ashland with the Tomcats up by 20 some points. This beatdown, however, established a new low for this "rivalry".

I just hated to see Russell quit after Ashland went up 24 to 0. Several kids were playing hard but most would go thru the motions and then stand around a watch. I would not be surprised that after the coaches watch the film that numerous players for russell will not play. Yes Ashland is very good and Russell was very bad. On one kickoff We counted 10 Russell players watching the Russell ball carrier get pounded by 8 Ashland players. I have seen Russell quit before but not like they did tonight.

Now the positive for Russell #6 doogie had several nice kick off returns and did it on his own.
#19
congrats to Ashland

Yeah, nothing new to Ashland fans!
We Experience it every other year going to tank! We should have a good shot at beating them on there home turf.
#21
ashland does have a good shot to beat ironton if the refs dont get involved as much as they have in the past
#22
I'm from Ironton, played at Ironton, and have seen all 3 Ironton games. By the looks of things on paper, Ashland not only has a great shot at beating Ironton but maybe humiliating them. This Ironton team can match up with anyone on their schedule talent wise, the heart just isn't there. They have a huge offensive line, 3 great backs, and a very fast defense. The team lacks intensity that Ironton teams are well known for having. I wish both teams luck on a great season and the Fighting Tigers luck next Friday night. They're gonna need it.

Russell will be back, I enjoy the back an forth of this game in years past. The atmosphere is always electric when these two play! An it will be again Russell is young an in a rare down turn these last few years. I fully expect them to be right back in form next year or two.

What makes you think they'll be better next season? I'm not talking about this season. I was replying to the poster's contention "maybe next year".

They play mostly juniors and sophmores who are in their first year of varsity football. They are learning as they go. They played fairly well in close losses to Greenup and Ironton. Ashland right now is by far the best team they have seen and just a totally different animal. This Ashland team may be the best team they have had since 1990. Russell is not great but I don't think the sky is falling either.

The spread offense is so well suited to all the players Ashland has right now, it's humbling to see it working so well. A very good system and very good coaches making a situation that allows and encourages players to grow as players their entire high school career. IMO the program continues to get stronger year after year these days. Now if Ashland can just get a stadium to play in they should be okay for a while. FBALL, you've been pretty darn candid with your remarks, and accurate from what I've seen, wouldn't have some spare cash laying around for the renovation at kitty city would you. LOL:thanks:

Ashland doing this week in and week out, really makes what GC did to them in week #0 that much more impresive. Russell will be back next year.
#28
I wouldnt say best Ashland team since 90..just they dont really have that much good competition

this a completely horrible way to argue a team's worthyness. Just as well, Ashland competed against GC thir 1st game, when the team was getting use to alot of adjustment so it proves nothing anyway.

What ever happened to REDDEVIL1981? Haven't heard anything much from you for a while. :CE_DP_Ste
